Can anyone tell me a little about this dog.  I know he has some very noteworthy progeny like Erri and Lord z Lipin who did/do outstandingly well in the sporting world, but I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of his progeny doing real police work.  Are they hard dogs?

Any input on him would be greatly appreciated too.  I am thinking about getting a puppy out of him this year.  He seems a little small to me.  Does anyone else see feel the same.

All info is greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have an Orry grand daughter...her sire is Erri...she is an awesome female.

I would contact Van Den Heuvel since they own Orry...

It depends what you call "a little small"... and that might depend what you want the pup for.  Orry certainly seems to have the titles to vouch for his abilities, although the Kkl-2 may be due to the size issue.  IMPO, he's of sufficient size to be effective and I'd wager that the vandenheuvel breedings provide dogs with stable, reliable temperament and an eagerness to work.  However, having seen the vandenheuvel bredings, I think that the breeder is addressing the size issue on the selection of dams...  The do look stout and very capable. I hope you do get your pup.  I like what I see on paper...

I had two girls out of a decent size female, one sired by Orry and the other by Reno Jipo Me.  The Orry female was a "little small" and the Reno female was a "little large", both having the same mother.  Last month, visited a friend with a Orry male who's also a "little small", but a nice dog nonetheless.  The reality is, most dogs are too large, for what they should be.  Does the standard need rewritten to fit the reality?  They say Tiekerhook dogs can tend to be a "little on the small side" too, but mine's 80 lbs and I wouldn't want him larger.  He can drag a static 200 lb dead weight all over the parkinglot at 2-3 feet per second, no problem.

blazer ,  I visited training  with orry , lord lipin , and a young orry son arco  , and must say that ,where lord is a sportsdog . orry himself is more of a patroldog type
so depending on the bitch he will breed , I think Orry will definately be able to produce policedogmaterial
about the size , you will have a chance on a not so big dog , also depending on the bitch used , but then again , Ill take  quality and  function over size any day

Wow. We have all heard the saying "Silence Is Golden". I don't like to assume things, but from the lack of post on this one I wolud take it that Orry ( IT ) must be a pretty good dog that can and has reproduced himself. I am talking about in heath, balanced drives and work ability type of things. Well lets see if this stirs any comments up about this dog along with some of the females he has been breed to and what they produced.

I met Orry up at VDH about two weeks after they received him. While compared to the likes of Congo (Massive), Norbo and Faro he seemed smaller but in reality I would guess he was between 80 and 85lbs. He seemed very quick and really athletic. Dari did allow us to fire him up and fire up he did!!! Very fast to engage and was aggresive to say the least. John (Dari's husband) could turn him off with a command which was nice to see.

As far as his progeny goes I have seen a few. One son was rather small for my taste (if I had to guess I would say barely 70 lbs soaking wet). I know of another guy close to me that has a son and he says the dog is going to be perfect size(probably close to 85 or so at full adult, the dog is still  under a year so we will see). I train with a guy that has an Orry grandson and he is a good size male at about 85lbs lean.

I have seen most of VDHs females first hand and the ones I have seen are good size females. They all have a great bone and really nice heads.

Hope that helps.

Hi, I have a young Orry daughter. She is within the standard size about 65lbs, short & stocky build.
She is wonderful to work, train & in the home as a pet. I'm training her for her SCh titles which all 3 phases seem to come so easy for her. She is great with children of all ages, other dogs, in new places or surfaces, etc.
She is ball crazy! We had a police officer & trainer test her when she was 7 months old. He loved her so much he offered to buy her. Most people are impressed when they meet her or see her work. We just love her.
Dari at Van Heuvel K9 is wonderful to work with, good luck on your Orry pup.
