Hi Sugarbear, Interesting Czech pedigree. Nice to see all of the dogs titled. "DPOII" , "WPO", "PSP-1" They are all police titles. The dogs are put thru scenarios with the decoy wearing a body bitesuit as opposed to just an arm sleeve. A dog with all of these titles should be a very competent Patrol K9. Kyle

thanks kyle. So... this male would be kind of the working dog's "VA" stud?

Not really. Apples & oranges here. There are no breed-worthiness designations listed. He may or may not have some disqualifying faults (missing testicle, less than "Good" conformation, missing teeth...)but I doubt that... He has been used as a stud by Ed Frawley (Leerburg kennels) so chances are his owner just did feel it was necessary, did not want to bother with, or never got around to getting his AD, Show Rating and Breed Survey. Of course there's a good chance he DOES have a Breed Survey and for some reason or other it isn't listed in the database. He seems to produce pretty well by the look of his progeny. Shelley

The dog has proven himself to be a working dog thru his titles, yes. As for breedeing, Shelly has informed you he lacks a KKL (breeding suitability title, korung). Frawly is not big on titleing all of his females. If the dog is owned by a US Police K9 handler he probably will never have a korung. MOST Law Enforcement Officers do not understand the merits of participating and training in Schutzhund. But if the dogs are going to be registered with the AKC only. AKC does not require a korung for breeding. You must understand what breeding the GSD is all about. Not all studs are good matches for all female GSD's. For example I would not breed to an AM-Bred GSD female unless she is schutzhund titled and I have seen her work. Breeding is a bit of a science with a good helping of luck. Kyle

CJ is a working K9.

CJ retired, so I don't think you'd be able to get a pup from him. There is a male pup from him - Vasco vom Leerburg II that isn't retired if you want a puppy. Ed Frawley from Leerburg Kennels in Wisconsin owns Vasco (call name 'CJ').

My interest in Cejlon has to do with my search for a puppy with a solid working pedigree, which would hopefully turn out to be a great PPD prospect. I thought I'd search for a "K9" GSD hoping for significantly civil progeny. Everyone mentions this "Ed Frawly" from Leerburg; have to wonder if this may be a good route to go.

Sugarbear be careful of what you ask for , for you may get it. For patrol work work you want a level headed dog that can be controlled. Everyone wants a super civil dog but not many can handle one. Frankly not many folks know what they mean when they are reffering to a very civil dog. For patrol work and liability issues you do not want a dog that cannot be around people. All you need is one bad bite to put a K9 program in jeapordy. Kyle

Ed is a good breeder, I dont know him personally but I do go to his website often to read his training articles. If you have a problem with your dog go to his site and you can find all the info you need. He sells I believe 120 training tapes? I remember seeing "CJ" on his site one day and he was talking about his fater "CJ". I know he DOSENT stud to ANY outside females and his pups sell for $1800+. Your best bet would to be look at "CJs" progency(the one you listed) and see if you can contact the owner of one of his pups. I am realizing now that my post is late, but oh well :-).
