Seems like the KC are going to allow CC's for 2012 for those clubs/societies who agree to abide by their rules on double handling and who recognise their concerns on conformation. This will no doubt placate the 'English' camp but the 'Germanic' side will only have themselves to blame if they don't conform. Its the KC's ball and if they pick it up and take it home there will be no game. We have been warned.

seems like it should end with "according to the prophecy!!!"

anybody please care to explain this for the uninformed. I would hate to be banished from the kingdom and not even know why.

Looking at the situation from the breeders point of view, it seems to me, that the KC are not understanding, or, appreciating that many breeders are trying to tackle the problems that the KC complain of. Any real enthusiast of the breed does not want to see incorrect backlines, overangulation and unsoundness in their dogs. The KC has to accept that to correct these faults will take generations and will not become better overnight just because they change the rules as to who to include or exclude from showing their dogs. It is the judge’s job to decide which animals conform to the breed standard and if the animals do not conform then awards must not be given. Unfortunately, this is not always happening, not only within our own community but also by KC approved All Rounder judges. Will the KC address this problem with the All Rounder judges? Probably not.
On the subject of “outside attraction” we have to accept that it has always been a KC rule that this is not allowed, however, the KC has turned a blind eye to this not only in our breed, but also in all breeds. Keys have been rattled, owners coughing etc. With the introduction of dogs from Germany the outside attraction moved from the discreet efforts of owners to the now very blatant running around and noise that we witness at all of our shows. Personally, I am not against outside attraction and, if the KC wanted, it could be a feature of Breed Shows only, a simple solution to the problem. The discreet form of attraction, which is still against the rules, will always be there.

I guess Jemima could have been telling the truth then eh? It certainly sounds like they want rid of us.

Well, some Clubs have started organising non KC shows anyway and I'd prefer them any day!

Detailed proposals are to be made to the Kennel Club General Committee on 5th January which, if accepted, would point a way to the solution of many of the problems that the Kennel Club has with certain parts of the GSD community. It would also, hopefully, lead the way towards allocating Kennel Club Challenge Certificates to the breed in 2012.
The approach is likely to be directly to individual breed clubs and general and group championship shows. It would allocate KC Challenge Certificates only to those clubs and societies which are prepared to accept various Kennel Club recommendations on issues such as double handling and the tackling of unsoundness in the hindquarters of the breed and in particular in the hocks of some dogs.
Ronnie Irving, Chairman of the Kennel Club said “Obviously I can’t talk about all the finer points of these proposals until the Kennel Club General Committee has discussed the detail but I know that the Committee is supportive of the principle involved. I hope that these moves, if agreed, will allow CCs for GSDs to be allocated to those clubs and societies who are prepared to face up to the fact that this well respected breed has not, in recent years, been making the progress that it deserves.”

The number of GSD exhibitors have diminished to almost insignificant levels, and this reduction is continuing. It is clear that by any analysis of the trend over recent years there will be entries below 100 at many, if not most GSD Championship shows from 2010. With NO outside attraction, and with many questionable decisions by judges, the entries will rapidly decline to less than 50 by 2012, an average of FOUR per class. Is there any point is exhibiting GSD here within the UK under this IMPOSED Kennel Club system? the simple answer is NO.
We can develop our own GSD exhibiting system, with outside attraction, and without interference from the Kennel Club, and it would be far more enjoyable and far more meaningful than the KC CH. Shows. We can also make up British Champions through our own WUSV system.

Our GSD Breed Clubs, and our GSD exhibitors can certainly "RISE TO THE CHALLENGE"

International Symposium on the dog
July 6th & 7th, 2009 The Kennel Club in the UK held its International Symposium On The Dog in London at its world famous headquarters in Clarges Street.
Press: Mr. Matthew Stander – Dog News
The following is an extract from a report published by Matthew Stander."The second day I was shocked beyond words to hear Ronnie Irving and Ruth Barbour of the GC both say that if breed clubs did not change their standards to the liking of the GC they would consider disenfranchising the breeds in question. Indeed Dr. Barbour said specifically, “Like it or lump it” and Mr. Irving was even more direct by saying specifically that the breed would no longer be recognized in the UK. And this was confirmed to me – I thought at first I was hearing things by Americans in the audience as well."
