Both from same sire. Both have done well in sport too. So sport and real life are not always at odds.
I'm sure plenty of police dogs out there can be mentioned too but most of them nowadays have Czech lines.

I think her West lines are some of the best around...not your typically over-bred stuff...you all know who I mean. Those "in the know" have been extremely impressed w/her W. Ger lines.

DDRshep,
Those are very nice dogs. Both Kathargo and Satoris have produced some great dogs. I will agree that many of the current GSD's used for Police work are Czech dogs, that I see. My dog is an example of that. He is extremely clear headed, high drive, super high prey drive, with a very serious civl side. It's hard for me to say whether he has more prey than defense, because both are so high. He has a high prey drive with a high defense drive, but no handler aggression. He is also a pretty hard dog and tolerates corrections well with no loss of drive. He would be a top level sports dog with his hard, full crushing grips. I hope to compete with him in SchH if I'm allowed by my PD. I am definitely going to compete in some Police K9 competitions. He has had several "real" street bites and I'm astonished at how full and hard they were. The bites are all the way to the back of his mouth, very calm and very crushing, this is unusual for a real bite and it is genetic. This dog does not growl or bark when he is amped up and ready to bite, he just stares. I have to be very careful because people don't realize what they are getting into when they meet him on the street. They think because he is calm and quiet that he is not going to bite and it's just the opposite; he is like a crocodile waiting to strike.
4pack,
Baden sounds awesome, my kind of dog. Are you ready to sell him yet?
Let me know when your ready..

Didn't hear my dog bark until he was 9mos or so old. Once he got that bark, meant he'd get a decoy walking closer, he would bark on comand at the drop of a hat. Everyone told me, wait until he gets his bark, he wont shut up at home. Not the case, he is still quiet at home and even in the crate at training. Love, love, love this dog. He's so easy, like a point and shoot camera. Alway the full calm grip you talk about with your dog too, genetics, aren't they beautiful?
Heck no he ain't for sale! This dog will go nowhere. How about you drop your boy off for a visit, next time you stop to have a pow wow with Hans?
