Any critiques are appreciated. He is full german heritage but looks a lot like an American. I've been training with my local GSD club and I'm going to start showing him in conformation soon. **I know I could've stacked him much better but I was in a hurry**  http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/622911.html

Although it is very hard to critique from a picture;  how does he move??  He is very cute.  Pretty rich colors.  Have fun...

You need to get his front feet under his shoulders for a proper stack and his shoulder will look better.  Overall, it looks like you have a nice looking pup.  I don't see any glaring faults, his head looks good, ears set well.  Good color, nice back, good bone, well balanced.  What are your plans for him?  Be sure to enjoy him!

I addition to what DebiSue mentioned above his croup is good and fits nicely into a beautiful back.

Thanks for the comments! I'm going to start showing him in AKC conformation and see how he does. He's a pretty good mover. His back is not as sloped as the American dogs so I know he'll never do well at specialty shows. However, I'm hoping he may do ok at the all-breed shows. If nothing else, it'll give me an opportunity to work on my handling skills. We're also going to start training in obedience and agility.

We can only hope that the judges will start putting up dogs like this one with good backs and strong rear ends.  Enter him.  It's the only way we can get our foot in the door with AKC and make them take notice.  I love agility.  You will not believe how well it helps you bond with your dog.  Keep us posted!

hello Emmers.my name is Carole and i come from kent in england.i show gsds(german type)in england your pup at present looks what we call middle of the road type(ie.neither english nor german)we too have a split over here.some obiously very english, just like your akc type, some middle of road and some obviously german type.the bitch i am showing at the present time(now aged 7)looked english to middle of the road type at 6 months, but now she looks german type but we have won well under all types of judges except the very english type judges who prefer animals which are very long with weak backs and very short length of foreleg.your pup looks to be well balanced.good luck with your venture into the showring.keep us updated please.thank you Carole.

Thank you everyone. It's nice to get opinions from other people. He is great fun and a joy to train. We have our first show in early January so we'll see how it goes.
