The following dogs also passed: Waiko Quantum Tor Henkels Dog-Cannot remember his name Hoss Bravo Steffen Haus Protection work is VERY hard this year! The distance on the short bite is as long as the long bite at many shows!!! Needless to say how far the long bite is.......

by VHK on 01 September 2006 - 17:09

So basically it's how it is SUPPOSED to be ???? about time... the key is to have dogs that can handle this type of work (if you want to call it that) and to prepare them. Which means we need more good helpers who aren't trying to be friends with the dog! The helpers are doing very good this year... Let's hope it continues to be hard on the dogs! David

Hi David: A friend of mine pointed out that since we are so particular about how the show dogs perform in protection work, may be we should look at the working dogs from a structural standpoint before the National competition and not allow the ones who have the breed faults to participate at the tournament. I don't have much of a problem with that, but I was wondering how other working dog people feel about it? Ajay Singh www.ajaysingh.com

by LuvCzechDawgz on 01 September 2006 - 19:09

Guess it will depend on who's judging Ajay. Some of their opinions of ideal structure are far what I think ideal or good structure is. But there's also a big difference in breeding a SG or G rated dog that works well versus a V rated dog that bites the sleeve with only it's canine teeth. But I won't get on that tangent again. It would be nice see some emphasis on the structure in working line programs as well.

Sounds like the US is well represented. Teejay and Galy have both done so well!! I am so happy for these dogs and their owners and breeders. It gives me a great sense of pride to know some wonderful GSD's are being bred here in the US. I only wish I were there to see it all and to support these dogs.
