Young dog over a year,  but  under two. These were sent off today for OFA prelims. I was just curious what the hip film savvy have to say about them. I think the placement was not the best, but these were the best of 6 sets of films taken. Here are two pictures of the same film.

Thank you in advance for taking your time to give me your input.

Looks shallow to me, fair at best.

In a dog so young, I would not have a lot of hope for passing at age two. The right ( or maybe its left if its flipped) looks shallow, and there is already flattening of the femoral head. If this were a female I was considering for breeding, I would probably start looking elsewhere...the positioning is not great, but tis OK, and that doesn't change the aspect of the femoral head.  That's a bummer, especialy if its a really nice dog. But, even if it doesn;t pass, does not mean it cannot have a good long life doing what it likes to do. I wouldn't breed it, but there are lots of other options.

I'll keep my opinion to myself since the last time I saw a hip like this one and thought it was bad - it passed.  So I don't know enough about them yet to call it.  But I agree with Julia.  Enjoy the dog regardless.

I'd ask the vet for a better positioned xray.  These are too tilted.

hard to tell from these pictures. But, if I have to venture a guess - OFA fair.

I think it's the pictures though, really  hard to tell.

Couldn't figure out how to make the picture small enough..
but had a similar X ray that went Fair at two years
