Bigbrother, I read your original post the other day, and saw some of the replies. Please do not take this the wrong way; but are you 100% sure that the puppies were full term and never became cold-even for a short time?
A delivery that is just a very few days early can produce puppies that are not ready to survive in our world, plus a slight chill can be deadly during the first days of life.
It must be so sad to lose a litter, and still have no definite reason why it happened. I hope that you soon find an answer, and you have my condolences.

No, that wouldn't have reared it's head until the SUBSEQUENT litter, as the body doesn't have time to build up enough antibodies to that blood type until some time has passed. Usually the fetus' in question will die before birth, however.
Good luck, and condolences on the loss of your puppies.

Wow. What a sad thing, as it sounds as if everything was "by the book" correct. I realize that you may never know the true reason. But if you ever do, I am sure this messageboard would like to know. I know that I would.
Sincerely,
Bob-O

A freind lost a litter of pups (border collie)and when they did autopsies, they found them to have umblical infections (although you couldn't see it from the outside).
