hi, let me start off by stating that i am not a breeder, owned GSD for 45 yrs, never bred one, i believe it should be left to professionals, now that that is out of the way let me start my question.
my name is mike and i live in delaware, i have a GSD of all DDR descent, his name is Gundo Vom Schaferliesel and i obtained him from a wonderful lady named Sonja Markowski 5 yrs ago, he is a pet, he is a friend, he is everything i have been looking for for 40 yrs, he is my constant companion and has been for 5 yrs.
what i am looking for is a breeder who will give me some sound and honest advice about the remote possibilty of breeding him, i have recently met a guy who says he has a DDR female and wants to breed her to Gundo, he has yet to provide me with any paperwork, we are in the very early discussions of whether i want to be a part of breeding between his dog and mine, Gundo has all the paperwork supplied to me by the German authorities and Sonja, i never bothered to register him with the AKC, can i do so? i would like to discuss this with a reputable breeder if possible and i thank anyone who can assist me.
my contact info is as follows:    moonliteexpress@comcast.net
i am not very computer oriented so please excuse any mistakes

                                                                                            best regards

Hi Mike
Welcome, I am not a breeder, but may be able to help some.
You should still be able to AKC register Gundo with the proper paperwork. I will warn you though that after this long it will likely be very expensive.
The most important (in my opinion) thing that you can do before considering breeding him is to get his hips and elbows certified. Also request that the bitch have hers done as well.
One more thing would be to require a brucellosis test done on the bitch before mating her with your male.
Also look at both dogs temperment and conformation very carefully before deciding to breed. I would recommend having them surveyed to make sure they are both within the breed standard.
Good Luck

Agree with Stacy.

Can you post a pic of your dog?  Is he in the database?

by moonlite on 30 September 2009 - 20:09

thanks for the response's, jransom i am not very computer literate, can you tell me how to post a pic? i will get son to post it for me, also how do i enter him in the data base? sorry  for the questions and my lack of computer skills, as i said, he is my companion and friend more than anything, he does spend 3-4 hrs a week with alzhimer patients at a nursing home., the only  other thing i can add is that he has traveled to 48 states including alaska, all by motorcycle, his father is henk von der moschel and his mother is sally vom schaferliesel, i was told by Sonja Markowski that he is of all DDR ancestry. HE IS A BIG DOG. thanks, one other thing of note, he has Never ate commercial dog food in his entire life as per Sonja's instructions. thanks all
