What do you want to do with your puppy?
Being a "novice" do you already has a support group lined up to help you?
Have you asked your support group what their opinion is?
Nothing is mentioned about the hip rating of the males........I would have to ask.

First big Impression I saw was they do the biosensory Stimulation from birth....Can not get any better breeder than that to start off with that in mind...NEONATAL CARE

Keep the input coming..I love all the puppies they have! I have emailed candle hill hoping to hear about prices.
I know Little of the long hair although I think they are beautiful!!! I believe I have read the long haired are OK for shutzdund.. As for shedding I am wondering is ist about the same or more then short hair??? My guy can shed pretty good..Even with daily brushing!

Oh no, I wondered since you were looking at a breeder in Idaho, that is all. I was going to tell you to check out the local clubs (Spokane, Boise they have some nice dogs to choose from). I do not know anybody in SD..
