I am asking for some information here. A while ago I posted about the horrible flea problems down here in Florida and a couple of you sent me a link to my email for Diatomaceous Earth that was reasonably priced, comapny had a good reputation, and was effective. I seemed to have somehow missplaced the link and would appreciate the person(s) that sent me that link to please do so again because I could REALLY use it. Flea season is upon us and after having to spend almost $1000 on flea allergy related treatment and medication last year, I would love to nip it in the bud. My female is SO allergic to fleas that she is a miserable wreck and I just can't see filling her up with chemicals just to control the fleas (other than Trifexis for both fleas and heartworm)

DE can be bought at a Feed and Seed store or Tractor Supply store. Any Ag store... DE is commonly used for cattle rubs to control flies and mites in herds. Its relatively cheap, around $15.00 for 6lbs. Doesn't sound like much, but it is and it takes so little. Hope this helps.

THAT IS NOT DE FOR FOOD GRADE AT TRACTOR SUPPLY
DO NOT BUY ANY DE that does not say FOOD GRADE...
the other has CHEMICALS IN IT...IT IS BLENDED WITH OTHER INGREDIENTS.
YOU WANT A 40 LB bag of DE...MOST feed stores carry what you want..it has to say FOOD GRADE.. about $28.00 in TEXAS.
YOUR dogs are licking it,,,and you can use it for the minerals..but the chemical DE is used in air conditioners etc

I spray Listerine on your yard with an ortho yard sprayer at a spray rate of 1 bottle for average sized resigential lot. It keeps fleas, ticks and flies at bay.

Yellow Rose, The Tractor Supply store here has the food grade! Which Stores carries it might depend on the demand for it.
I bought some there and it is Food Grade.

Here's where I got mine: http://www.earthworkshealth.com/ I don't know how it compares pricewise to other places. Just be careful when using this stuff. Wear a surgical mask when applying it and try to protect your dogs as best as possible. Even food grade DE can cause lung issues. I put it on my rugs and dog beds, but not directly on my dogs- not anymore. They were walking dust bowls with that stuff on them- I'll never do it again. My dogs are house dogs and that is just my opinion and experience.

Thanks everyone. YR did not know about food grade, thanks for the heads up. Starrchar, I remember you gave me those links before but I lost them, thank you. The fleas are HORRIBLE this year since we did not get a cold snap.

DE in the TYLER store and at Atwoods here is a mixture for gardens and yards.
THE STORE here is not my favorite TRACTOR SUPPLY
The feed store here is only place we can buy the pure DE.
THE catalog for tractor supply does not represent all stores.
Just make sure it says Food Grade on it.
