My question, now that I have your attention with my TMI, is have any of you ever contracted worms of any kind from raw feeding (or gardening) and if you think I should deworm all the animals immediately since I am deworming myself (and my thrilled husband).
They all got Drontaled beginning of this month (and the puppies got something stronger-forget what it was but it was also for heartworm). Don't want to overdo it on the deworming for the animals if I can help it but as my vet is closed I just thought I would ask here. Puppies didn't have a great reaction to the vacs and deworming so I'd like to avoid it if possible.
Thanks for sharing my lovely story with me.Any help much appreciated.

Two different types are most common where I think you are, and usually transmitted differently. Skin vs. oral. So, you need to play detective a bit, first.
So sorry for you! I think contracting internal parasites has to be a horror of mine!!!

So, do you think your ground is contaminated or did you take the dogs to other areas that they could have picked this up from?
If it were me, i would treat everyone and every pet, but I did just explain I have a horror of contracting internal parasites. Believe me, while I was taking the medicine, it would be a very long three days......!
(Oh, and make sure any of your fertilzer doesn't contain human waste.)

Your dog licks his DIERREAR and then he licks you ??> YOU let pups kiss you ??? guess where they have had their noses??
YOu can go to the Health FOOD STORE AND BUY dewormers and all breeders usually take them..
Yes, I , HAVING bred dogs for 39 years, Cocker spaniels first then the GSD< and the knowledge I had was to always be prepared to find out I had swallowed an egg or two from a clean environment.
IF you handle a lot of pups and dogs, it is not unusual.
Farmers have the same percentage of infestation.
People who eat a lot of garlic and a lot of natural greens and veggies , and fruits probably get rid of them naturally.
WORMWOOD , is one of the pills people take.
Ivemec has pills that humans take to get rid of the Tapeworm which is usually the one humans come up with.
HOOKS are out of the dirt we work in and have our feet on...the ground..especially if you are barefoot SALLY..
then you somehow get it to you hand or mouth when you drink your drink you left sitting on the table or the ground...or the sandwich you ate and did not wash your hands..or you wiped you face with the back of your hand.....real easy to happen.

NO BIGGY.
Many thousands of kids get pin worms...you use pyrantel piamote to rid that easily..liquid or pills.

When we lived in Hawaii, and went around barefoot 90% of the time, we were wormed 2x a year as routine protocal.....LOL.
Yes, the thought of having worms is disgusting, but up to 80% of humans have them and don't know any better.....
