Wow Steph, she's a beauty.  Hey, do whatever will help the most.  Considering how much you give back to this breed, I don't think many would have the nerve to bash you over this, you go girl!

Better yet, ya got any intact males?  You can sell her for more if she's bred, or have a litter yourself.  You'll have to wonder if you're contributing to the problem any way you go.

Let them bash away...just trying to point out what people do with a really expensive dog also...they bought her to breed, went as far as having her hips xrayed and then didn't follow through, luckily. They wouldn't have known what to do with the pups either... bunch of idiots out there that don't know what they are really getting...

At least they didn't dump her at the shelter..

Sorry had a really bad day yesterday...Got 6 dogs in this past week, including a 10 yr old that I took to get x-rayed and ultrasounded and found the Hemangiosarcoma, liver and spleen going...the owners dumped her at the shelter when they moved to Alaska...now 2 months later, she is dying...I will try to keep her comfy as long as I can...
Then one with diabetes, around 5...so much for cutting back.
Had 2 dogs shipped here from California, cause the rescues there have a waiting list to get a dog into rescue, and people were going through a divorce... very nice dog they bought from a kennel in Hawaii....big beautiful sable guy...Obi
I am just really sad all these dogs getting dumped....
Sorry,
STeph

Steph, you see the other side, the ugly side, and I for one appreciate your major contributions to this breed.  If I ran a rescue, I'd probably become a hoarder, I wouldn't be able to let any of them go.  Bless you for being able to handle what many of us couldn't.  The only thing I can say is that I've never bred any litters and have not personally contributed to the overpopulation.  I'm sure there's more I could have done to help though, and really haven't.  It's easy to write a check, if you have the extra money, but it's still not enough.  And right now I can't even afford to do that!  The most I can do is take the best possible care of my dog and vow to take complete responsibility for any dog I bring into my home... NO excuses.

Steph,
here is a question from bottom of my heart and not to degrade what you are doing which is a God's work I believe.
Do you ever have doubts about correctness of the principle of rescuing dogs from irresponsible people?
I mean my experience is that if you help to these irresponsible owners to rescue a dog they will do it over and over again because they are counting on good hearted people like your self to take care of their poor rejects.
I do help  people who legitimately can not keep their dogs (like death in the family) and I do help and rescue  dogs playing in the traffic or walking through the desert when they got themselves into predicament by sticking their head into Mayo jar in their desperate search for food after someone dumped them. But I refuse to help people who, for example,  are moving into apartment where they do not allow dogs.   .
What is your take on this?
