Okay, But to the people who believe this is a "Proper German Shepherd", Do you really think this dog is still able to properly complete the job it was designed to do? To herd sheep? Protect stock from predators? Now the straight and correct postured dogs are used in the Millitary and Police force all around the world as well as Search and rescue and Mine detection dogs. The German Shepherd used to be the "King of dogs" and now it's a cripple. All dogs are bred to work.

Erin, are we supposed to be looking at something, a picture in which to compare your words? My dog isn't a cripple, just sayin'. I also think he's a hard worker; being a good pet to two boys can be exhausting, but very rewarding, too. If I had some sheep I'm pretty sure he's got the goods for that, as well.
I was just explaining though, to my son, that I understood the GSD was always described as being 2nd best at everything, not really, "King of dogs". See, he had just mentioned a best friend who happens to be a girl, describe herself as "...a second place kind of gal." I thought we made a nice connection, there! LOL

P.S: I only learned what high long withers is after I was referred to look at this dog. Strong, elegant, moderate and above all strong character and true worker.

Ulk von Arlett is not a cripple dog ..HE is a VA1 rated dog out of Some of the best dogs in history.
Uran v Wildsteigerland who didnt get to the approval he did 2xVA1 and have over 3100 Projheny and I happened to own Bear Jerome one of his progheny who was a working fool and had more herding tendencies then a Belgium Sheep Dog.
Ulk is out of VA5 Yago and his mom is V Dolly von Arlett..
THE only thing that Ulk can throw that is not favorable , of course if bred to right females, is the liver and coat genes. WORK ability is one of the strongest I have seen in most of all progheny I have seen. We have three of four here in Shreveport club. Bear was a lava v Korbelbach son and actually
Ulk is out of the Kirschentahl lines which are FAMOUS for herding.
You take a dog that is angular with a VA1 that has been on a 10 mile jaunt more times than I have walked into my home and you think he cannot work. To attain the standings of all the dogs in Ulks pedigrees they have had to preform many long hours of work and running.
Whoever Erin is didn't make himself very clear for sure , but most all wl/sl dogs are hard workers and can tote the mail. HE DID not provide an example of any cripple gsd or a pic of one who he was posting about...so I really do not know what he wanted us to say or show??
NO one can say all their progheny are empowered to be strong workers every time..We are talking in this case of one of the most sought after dogs with that kind of numbers,,didn't get there by being a weak showline dogs proghenies. Ulk of course has lots of close line breeding because of Palme.....

YR, correct you are as usual and we learn history from you, that is one of the best things I love about you. As a matter of fact I suggested Ulk based on the the title not content of the post.

I did notice the poster JUST joined Sunday april 22 , day of the post. I really do not think the thread will go anywhere as all of the other threads for the last 350 days have covered this in its entirety.
What most people NEW to this do not understand....all of our dogs have DUAL backgrounds.
SO pound away and try to trash but won't work.. 99999 of the people in the world after being on here for a time , will learn.....no dog is perfect just as no man is perfect.
Heredity is a STRANGE thing. It draws in a gene that POPS out of no where and a pup hangs on to it. SO no matter how great a dog , nor how much time and effort and titling or working you do to get your dog PUBLICIZED, you cannot control the path that bad genes, defunk genes travel.
OUR german shephered has one of the most unique backgrounds and is the most amazing part of the dog breed. We just need to pay attention to the good traits and EDUCATE
The truth of the matter is, there will always be people who want a german shepherd who just is a pet and licks everyone and sits on the floor in front of the couch and wags its tail
You will never put an end to the PET pool/ so no need to trash the show line or the working line.
I have seen some pretty poor examples of both...and all of us have. SO you cannot say one is worse than the other.
