We went to the vet today for my dog's yearly visit.  I was surprised when he just flat out, lay down and was like a lead weight, because he didn't want to get on that scale!  It took two of us to finagle him onto the thing, lol. Turns out he's 85 lbs. of dog. We eventually got him to sit on it, but stand up on the scale.... no, it just wasn't happening!

What's your story? LOL

I take my dogs to petco and petsmart and put them on the scales at least once a month each. I also take my dogs to the vet and just hang in the waiting room and they get treats for being chill. My vet and the assistants some times come by and give treats give good praise...

My dogs love the vet.

Oh, he has no problem with the vet. Happy to see everyone, toe clips are fine, shots, blood, none of that bothers him. Just decided this time, (or maybe it was the last time), that he wasn't going to do that scale-thing, ever again. For whatever reason!

I don't like getting weighed either. He's my kind of dog.

I had been taking Charlie to the vet to hit the scale as well, her weight has been going up & down

for awhile. She proudly walks right on with NO problems....but please look at my last post!

She is now more then happy to take out our flat screen TV, hum? I am wondering if she did killed

the TV for putting her on the scale so much? Well as all we women know, scales "lie" since they

are "man" made.....lol!

<a joke, ha ha> jmo  ;)

Blitzen - too funny!

do not feed him in the morning, go back to the vet about 3:30pm and offer high value food treats each time he makes progress towards the scale, then give him a whole handful when he stands on it.

repeat often.

Last time I had to take our Yorkie/Shih Tzu and my cat to the vet was a nightmare. Dad had to work so it was just me with both of them on-leash. Cheyanne (the cat) is very well-mannered and sat fine next to me on the bench, while Yapper gives me a look and takes a big dump right on the floor. I could see Chey cheering him on (I think she paid him to do it). Damn dog cost me an extra $20 because then they had their fecal sample - LMAO.

I think where the scale is placed can make a difference also. My guy was at the Vets last week and they have the scale placed where there is a wall on two sides and he was some what reluctant to get on the scale, I don't think he wanted to be taken into the corner of the room. He has always been perfect at the Vets except one thing. Cutting his NAILS. I could start a thread about the episodes of throwing the assistants (4 girls) around the room. Bee he checked in at 85 lbs. LOL

Blitzen! LMAO

Maybe because it's shiny and slick metal? Some dogs don't like slick floors, either. He could be bothered by that. Just guessing. Never had a dog like that.
