In light of the new changes that have occured this year in the schutzhund/IPO arena, Does anyone know if there will be a name change in the USCA?  How about new club names?  Should new clubs that are now forming take that into consideration?  In 5 years will the ________(fill in the blank) Schutzhund Club still work or should new forming clubs be named something different like ____________(fill in the blank) Working Dog Club?

Any thoughts?  All opinions on topic are welcome.

There might not be a need. If Lyle and his Lads (and Lassies) have their way. They'll take over the AWDF and control all the working Breeds and most of the Protection sports. There is a chance the other AWDF clubs
will shoot down the "votes based on membership numbers" take over attempt and maybe even get some non
UScA members in as AWDF Officers?

I have heard that because we are a german shepherd breed organization, then the use of "United Schaferhund Clubs of America" could be our official name with the loss of the schutzhund. This would keep the initials USCA and our logo. The name change would require changes to federal forms, and bank accounts. However it can be done.

Thank you so much mewoodjr!

No matter what (lads or lassies) are leading USA it is still Schutzhund. Schutzhund still has relevant,s. There is much more to Schutzhund then the sport aspect.

I would hope the name change is a old issue.

Windy,

Is that you in the picture/avatar? :-)

United Schaferhund Club might be usable if you're going to open it to the Belgian and all the other non
Deutch shephards :-)

I don't see the use of the word Schutzhund in clubs, organization names and general convesation going away in a LONG LONG LONG LONG LONG time...........just because the FCI/VDH want to kowtow to the Euro
Green Party and others.

I'm not complaining, just thinking about asking for an 8x12 autographed copy and moving to San Antonio ;-)

To be politically correct for our European friends would it not have to be United Sporthund Clubs of America ?. Just saying that makes me want to puke.
