I about a year ago was given a female GSD for show in co-ownership. She didn't turn out how I wantted and So I wantted to give her back to the breeder who refused! I tried to get him to take her back at least 5 times but he said no he just wantted puppies from her. Well I said I was going to give her away to someone this person fixed her since they didn't want to have pups. I fell that he gave up his rights with this female when he said he didn't want her back right??? Well now I have another female that is mine and I breed her with his stud dog. so he has the right to the pick male of the litter. I said I would also give him another pup or the equivalet moneys worth for the other female that got fixed. Ok so my female had 2 pups! figure right well ok I said I would give him both but now he also wants to put his kennel name on the pedigree and exclude me as their breeder! I don't want to do this cause I decided to go to the male and it is my female please could you guys give me an idea what I should do???

Well Jessica,
I don't want to sound rude, but if you had problems right from the get go, that should've been an indication that you shouldn't have done buisness again with him a second time. I don't know what to tell you, but for your sake, I'd give him ONE puppy, and keep the other. Or, what you could do, individually register each puppy, with BOTH of your names, as it was his stud dog, and then send him the puppy. If you want to talk in private about this, please feel free to email me,

Hi,
I know I was stupid in doing bussnes with him but I learnd my lesson that will never happen again. The only problem is I said I would give him both pups and I really don't want to take back what I have said regarding giving him both pups But I will if he isn't ok with the pups having me put on their papers as the breeder!

Jess, You should have had breeding contract, word of mouth dont cut it all the time with these kinda deals, and thats what it was a deal gone wrong. I would keep 1 male as Krista said give him the other and be done with it.

If this is how things are going do you really want your name attached to them? The owner of the pup has the right to name it anyways. You will always be listed as the breeder, that he cannot change, regardless what kennel name is used. Really should not be much of an issue. If you think the pups are nice and he is going to promote them and you want to be listed as more than just the breeder, ask if he would include both kennel names.

I have to agree with DH on that one. Besides, if thats the way he treats humans, can you honestly expect him to treat his dogs any better? I know some people love their dogs, hate humans, but just incase, if you're close enough, Jessica, visit him, and see the condition of his dogs, and how they respond around him, and then tell us if you want to give him puppies. If he's good with them, well, then thats a shame he's mean to you, but the puppies should be okay. If the dogs seem to fear him, or show agression toward him, WALK AWAY. Do not give him the puppies, because wether or not you sell those puppies with or without papers, make sure their going to a good home. SCREEN ALL POTENTIAL BUYERS! I do, and haven't been sorry. They must clear me, to get a dog.

DH,
Sadly I live overseas and So If he puts his kennel name on the pups pedigree I am totaly excluded as their breeder. But to be able to put them in his kennel name he has to also put their mother as his dog which I will not let happen basically over my dead body. So that is the predicament I am fine with giving him both pups and them being put under his kennel name but I will not give on the fact that the mother is my dog! and because of that where I live He cannot put the pups under his kennel name and he is very let us say midly furious with me.

Just tell him the pups get your kennel name or he doesn't get them, just make sure he signs the registration papers before you tell him.

If I do that He will freak out. and he wont sign the papers if he can;t have his kennel name on them. and I can't regester them without his singnature ont the breeding paper. Which must be signed but both the studs and the females owners. So I could do that but I guess I will see if whe can write to the kennel club of the country where I live in and see if I can also be put on as their breeder. If that works everything is ok but I have tried that befor and it hasn't so I am not holding my breath.

If you offered, told or promised the two pups to him, then you need to honor the agreement you offered and made. After all you gave your word, so give him the two pups. You, as the owner of the female and the breeder, want to name the dogs and with your kennel name. Here is how you do it. If you register the litter with the AKC, you get your litter registration "applications for registrations", where whoever can name them. You have to register them a second time, basically sell them to yourself and register them with your individual pup names and your kennel name. Being you never offered to give up being the breeder to your own litter or the ability to register the individual puppies in your kennel name, with their individual names. You then are the first and original buyer and by AKC rules, you as the first and original buyer get to name the puppies. Remember the person who registers the individual puppies is the buyer, even if the breeder and therefore, the "one" who gets to name them. Once you have your registration papers, not "applications for registration", with your puppy names and kennel names registered with the AKC and in your hands, sign over those registration papers to the new owner. If you just give new owners "puppy applications for registration" from you litter registration, you forfeit the right to name your puppies. Even if you write a name in the desired registered name spot. AKC customer service can verify, anyone can line it out, white it out and so on and put whatever "they" want for a registered name. So if you want to have your kennel name on anything you breed, register and so on, You have to register them with the AKC to get your individual names and your kennel name on the paperwork. The first person who registers the individual puppies with the "applications for registration" is the buyer and gets to name the puppies. So, you know what you got to do. Also good luck and hope it works out for you.
