Anyone using the new neck tech collars? - Page 1

Anyone using these new collars?  I'm getting too old to try and get these darn old school pinches on crazy beasts.  I used to be able to jam them (the beasts) in between my knees and hold the scruff till I got the collar on the wiggling maniacs but the neck techs look so easy that I am contemplating getting one. Reviews good and bad please!  Thanks!

I have one and found it ineffective and fell apart in use so not impressed, though it does look nice.  I use the type with a snap together fastener and I also have a micropinch that not only has the snap together fastener, but a nylon martingale fitting.

Kaffirdog, do you mind sharing where you get your collars? They sound much nicer than the above mentioned struggle. Esp since that particular struggle at my place is almost entirely had with younger dogs, the older ones know wether you like it or not you have to sit there until she gets the collar on no matter how long it takes. LOL

I have one, it is sooooo much better then trying to get a pinch collar on!! works wonderful! I have a power house GSD import that looks at my horses as though they are decoys!!

If getting the pinch collar off and on is the problem, Herm Sprenger has a pinch collar with a quick release.  Google "Herm Spregner Quick Release" to find one.

 I've used them before and they have a tendancy to pop off unexpectedly.

I just tell the dog "sit". That usually makes it easier to put it on. I use this super secret method because the dog should already know how to sit before you even introduce the prong.

Sooo when you get an 18 month old dog in who has never been on a leash, never had a collar on and never been off its property before you do what?  Put a flat collar on?  nope we know that doesnt work, they slip off.  you use a kennel slip noose?  nope the dog is choking itself to death spinning in circles and leaping all over you.  The dog doesnt respond to food either cuz of course it wasnt raised here and has no idea cookies come from your hands so use what to capture the beast? It would probably take your arm off by accident any how as it has never been taught manners and is just running around snapping ( not vicious just stupid puppy I'm running around with my mouth open stuff)   A martingale would work but we still have to get it on....oh ya we may as well use the prong so we can stop the silliness in one go .

Nah they arent criminals, just typical kennel dogs.  Have one here that just about knocked himself out cold this am.  He had never been on grass before and kept running head on into the trees.....  It was sad and funny all at the same time.  You would have thought snakes were biting his feet when the grass touched him, then he had a full on puppy spaz ( all 80 pounds of him) You would think that after shoulder checking a tree he would have learned to run around it, evidently it is going to take the lunk head a few sessions. Put a collar of any type on him now???? unlikely he has to figure out where his legs go first.  Then there was the sliding down the steps but that is a whole nother story.
