April fools or not you be the judge.

http://www.bgr.com/2012/03/28/anonymous-hackers-plan-to-shut-down-the-internet-this-saturday/

Notorious hacker group Anonymous has previously stated its intentions to shutdown the Internet on Saturday, March 31st, as a form of protest. “To protest SOPA, Wallstreet, our irresponsible leaders and the beloved bankers who are starving the world for their own selfish needs out of sheer sadistic fun, on March 31, anonymous will shut the Internet down,” the group stated last month. “Remember, this is a protest, we are not trying to ‘kill’ the Internet we are only temporarily shutting it down where it hurts the most.” Operation Global Blackout 2012 looks to shut down the Internet by disabling its core DNS servers, thus making websites inaccessible. Cyber security experts claim that it is unlikely that such an attack would be effective, however, and there is really no need to fear. Read on for more.

“The Anonymous hackers can certainly cause local pockets of disruption, but these disruptions are going to be localized to networks where their attack machines are located, or where their ‘reflectors’ are located”, said Robert Graham of Errata Security. “It’s unlikely they could take all of them down, at least for any period of time. On the day of their planned Global Blackout, it’s doubtful many people would notice.”

Graham does issue a cautionary note, however. “Just because I say Anonymous can’t do it doesn’t it mean it can’t be done,” the security expert said on Errata’s blog.

I would not put it past them. And I would not count on the so called experts to be right. JMO. As we have seen this group at work on many sites who said it couldn't happen. FWIW.

Also, for those that use youtube.   By the way I am not saying these things are written in stone only reporting what they are saying and in the past when they said it they meant it.

Well, today is Saturday, my internet is still here, lol!

If they're going to do it, I would guess it would be near Saturday night at midnight......so depending on the timezone if it happens, it could be at any time.....

Gotta agree with Beetree, all of the websites I frequent - Facebook being one of them, are still up and running just fine. My online Credit Union is down for "scheduled maintanance" but that's nothing new, they do this at the end of each month anyway.

So, what are you saying, by now, it is midnight, somewhere in the world...? We just need to wait until tomorrow to see which midnight they mean? LOL Funny way to be an antagonist, hit 'em while everyone somewhere,no will be sleeping.

...still here! LOL

If they shut it down 9 - 11PM Eastern ... I'll be pissed. My 13 year old son has an interview supporting Ron Paul with an online radio station. He's recording it for the Debate Team as a project. His team and I sent alot of letters to get him some airtime, darn it.
