Why do you COOK for this dog? Raw food should be fed, if you are not wanting to feed him kibble. If you are wanting him to eat kibble, quit giving him anything else and set the kibble down, he will eat when he gets hungry, he can go several days without eating, so don't worry about that. He is too young to be so finicky, better to stop it now. If you wish to feed him human grade food, start giving him a raw diet, you can find alot of info and other groups with RAW or BARF info. If you wish him to eat kibble, follow the above and he will eventually eat. You can email me at vomveiderheiss@nemont.net if you would like the raw diet recipe i feed my dogs, they as well eat Eagle pack Adult formula kibble.

What is a "peek-a-pom" dog anyway?
Just curious.

Is he getting enough excersize? I know those little dogs can become very depressed easily. Try running him, do some fun agility, play ball. I'm betting that will work up his appetite!
Also, I agree about cooking for him! I have a VERY finicky eater too...and I used to stress if he didn't eat. Then I got the same advise that you are (above) and after he held out for DAYS w/o eating, once he knew I wasn't going to budge, all of a sudden he ate as soon as I put the dish down! It's tough.....but if you stick to your guns, he'll give in!
Good luck!

To my knowledge no dog has ever staged a hunger strike and no dog will purposely starve himself to death. I own a finicky eater or two (2). When they become hungry they will eat.
For example, most of mine waste no time with food during the feeding opportunity. At the moment, one (1) female stays indide the home with me all of the time and is not around the other dogs (they are all living in another state due to my move) so she makes no hurry to eat. I feed her the daily normal ration, and she eventually eats it a nibble at a time. To an outside observer she would appear to be reluctant to eat.
If I wanted this behaviour to suddenly change, all I would need to do is introduce another dog at feeding time.
In the end, your dog will eat when he is hungry. Barring any medical complications (worms, etc.) he sounds normal to me.

Feed the Peek a pom to the German Shepherd and call it good.
Actually this is lifely a parasite issue. Decreased appetite and soft stools and or diarrhea are indicative of coccidea. If the dog were here with me I'd start him on albon right away. Forget the pampering feeding style. the dog is not going to die from not eating. Feed him a good quality dog food, worm him and if all else fails...maybe the German Shepherd webboard can help you find a hungry Shepherd.
