can someone explain to me linebreeding? i get that it is breeding to relatives in a dogs pedigree but im interested more in what the numbers mean. I did a search on the message board for line breeding and had trouble finding the info i wanted. For instance my puppys linebreeding is
Linebreeding - 5 generations

5,4 - 5.......................................… in Haddock des Deux Pottois
5,4 - 5.......................................… in Erika des Deux Pottois
4,5,5,5 - 5,5..................................... in SG Oscar von Löwenfels
4,4 - 5.......................................… in Cora von Löwenfels
4 - 5.......................................… in Lucas des Deux Pottois
3 - 4.......................................… in Virginia von Löwenfels
3 - 4.......................................… in V Onix von Löwenfels

his full pedigree is http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/belgian_malinois/dog.html?id=1315287. Could you explain to me what the numbers mean?

Thanks!

5th generation....4th generation....3rd...excetera...for instance Haddox is in the 5th and 4th generation of the sire and the 5th generation of the dam...plenty of back massing here....

Hi

I will try to explain this for you

3 - 3 (with a dash - between) would mean the named dog is in both the sire and the dam on third generation.  The dash splits the sire's pedigree from the dam's pedigree

3,3 (with a comma , between) would mean named dog shows up twice on one parent's side within the third generation.

3,4 is same as above (one side of pedigree but in the 3rd and 4th generation)

4,4 - 5  (the 4,4 would mean its the same named dog on sires side twice within fourth generation) + then the dash (-) takes you over to the dam's side and the 5 would mean that same named dog was in the 5th generation also on the dam's side of the pedigree

and so on....

I hope this helps you read the pedigrees more clearly.
