Good morning all!
I had a few questions about treadmill training - for dogs. A few of my GSD friends use a treadmill for their dogs and they claim their dogs just love it! When the treadmill's off they will sit on it, take naps on it, and when it starts up, they're ready to "go for a jog".

Here's my question, as I've never done treadmilling with dogs, and don't really consider myself too educated in the matter simply from watching a few YouTube videos on it; is there a proper way to condition your dog to the treadmill? Friends have suggested feeding treats on the treadmill while it's off for the first week or two and then slowly adjusting it to low speed and introducing it THAT way.

Before anyone gets any hackles raised, this is NOT in place of walking by any means. I simply cannot walk as much as I used to, due to my Fibromyalgia pain getting worse and worse. So I wish to continue to give the kids the exercise they need and desire. I'm already feeling like a slacker mom because of this, so any nasty remarks can and WILL be ignored.

HOWEVER, if you have something constructive to add to this post, great, I'd love to hear it! Also, I recently found a nice little park by the house here, so the kids (currently KID) will be visiting the park a few times a week to go swimming and running. Yes, I know the risks of Giardia, but this isn't a small pond, it's a large lake, with flowing water.

Private messages are also appreciated, looking forward to some helpful suggestions, I just want to do right by my kids without having to lie in bed for 4 hours after because it hurts to even stand or sit, ya know?

Can't comment on  treadmill as I don't use one, but I play with my dogs with 2 rings, though you can use a ball with a chucker if you can't throw far and they cover plenty of ground at full tilt while I am at a casual stroll.
