I was told by a friend that Black shepherd would closer to the whites than the sables and Black and tan dogs, as I just dont find any realationship betwin those collors I would like to have some opinions!
I know a White can born from dogs of other collors, so it is a recessive gene and that Horand was grandson of a White dog, called Greif. A recessive gene can be present in Black and tan, sables or blacks, so there is no closer collor right?

One of the troubles with White's is that their color is a mask. You do not know forsure what color they really are underneath. Looking at the pedigree will give you some idea, but it is not 100%. Yes, it is recessive and if a white is only bred to dogs that do not carry white, you will never get white out of them. Both parents have to carry white, the same as for black. So... whites can produce any color. Sable, solid black, black and red etc.

Jose,
I may have an idea of your friend Meant... A friend of our is from Germany and has since moved to the states, He was a Breed Steward in Germany... His beleif is this, That White German Shepherds were brought to the states and bred to other whites and other whites and other whites, Therefore Narrowing the "Gene Pool" and by doing so have created a tighter knit on a "Problem" of recessive genes on a washed out color that is NOT per standard. He also explained this with the color of black, blacks were bred to blacks and blacks and blacks, therefore Narrowing the Gene Pool once again, That may be what your friend was trying to convey in the closeness of the color relationship. Hope that helps.
