Hi, there all gsd friends. Could anyone tell me based on past experience or knowledge what should I expect statistically from a breeding 2,3 on Hoss Laercherhain? Thank you in advance. Petros

2,3? -Too close for my comfort, I hope you know what you are doing.

Do not know the dog but 2/3 would not be a good breeding but a inbreeding.

you can except a concentration of both good and bad traits in such a litter, not necessarily in the same dogs. The ideal is to get dogs out of such a breeding that produce a concentration of the positive traits of course. They are actually good control litters and also good for pinning down certain traits that you want to continue with or wish to avoid. If you are aiming for a certain type for example in terms of looks, such line breeding will help you establish that. Or if you would like to strengthen working ability. But it could also always work the opposite direction. Breeding is basically experimenting and regardless whose advise you follow that will never change. If you do not like the dog this litter is line bred to, then chances are you will not care much for the litter because the pups will quite possibly bear a larger resemblence to that dog in looks and other traits. If you like him and wish to preserve some of what this male brought to the table it might be just what you are looking for. You won't what you get til after.

This was taken from another board and I reposted it here because I believe in this and think it applies to the thread.... If you want to get anywhere with your breeding...you'll have to concentrate on very few traits to begin with; inbreed strongly, until those traits are clearly predominant in the litters; cull or spay/neuter what does not display the traits; and a ways down the time line, outcross with a dog whose breeder has followed the same path you have, with the same traits as targets Breeders who are breeding for certain traits, breed like this all the time. I myself am looking at a pup from a 2,3 breeding. Once you get familiar with it, it's not all that shocking.
