Has anyone used decking tiles for flooring in their runs before?  If so, how did it do?  I'm trying to find something that isn't as hard on the joints as concrete, but I don't think pea gravel would be a great choice for me.  I'm pretty sure I have rock eaters in the making.  xD
I know a lot of people put the rubber stall mats down over cement, but I've also heard that in the summer those can get pretty hot, especially since I'm in Texas.  Any help would be appreciated...

in the summer in Texas, I suggest a large crate inside your air condintioned home......

lol, yeah that's usually where they are.  I'm just trying to cover all my bases.  Anyone ever thought to use something like:

hallix,
i dont think I would use any rubber mats of any type in your heat.  Try picking up a black pail after it has been in the heat for a while. OOOOUCH!!  Rubber gets crazy hot. ( i know as i insist on picking up the horses feed buckets mid afternoon)  I've gotten blisters more times then I can count.  But I am too chicken to pick them up after dark with all the critters we have around here...

My dogs would eat a rubber matt that wasn't fit under the kennel, especially if the seams were exposed. just a thought...

Try artificial deck boards

Composite decking is pricey, but seems worth it. Doesn't grow stuff, doesn't let stuff sit in puddles, doesn't splinter, etc. I would think those big rubber landscape pads would work if laid like pavers. I assume the run will be covered so that they could just avoid the sunny parts that are hot? Also, if you got a light grey it wouldn't get nearly as hot.

She may/will outgrow the rock eating. The others did anyway.

Yes, the run will definately be covered.  Rubber landscape pads?  Depending on how everything goes,  I'm hoping to create as much shade as possible.  I'm not planning on the runs being where they stay all the time.  Mostly just where they go when they can't have full run of the yard.  It turns into a swamp when it rains.  xD

Yeah, they're like rubber paver bricks. I thought they looked pretty cool.

I would lock that creature up somewhere very safe during a full moon. smiley

xD
I really like the look of the rubber pavers.  They seem like they should work really well...as for locking her up on the full moon, who knows if a kennel could contain her if she really is.....supernatural.
