I saw this on the MSN homepage, what an incredibly sweet story.

I'm not much of a Mal person, I'm too used to seeing the hyper ones.  But this dog has the sweetest face I've ever seen on a Mal, I want to hug her.  lol.

I bet that is a shepherd mix they got from the shelter and not a mal.  Shelters just guess the breed based on looks.  Shows that every dog put down has a calling.  Shame we kill so many.

Kalibeck

They are very special beings, I know they must be able to smell the chemical changes in our bodies, but it seems like they just know. Our Kali could sense changes in my blood sugar levels, & would alert me to low levels. Her absolute devotion & attention continues to astound us. Even during her own illness she remains utterly focused on us. Sometimes I have to wonder what they really are, & how can we treat them like dogs? LOL, sounds silly, I know, but honestly...human doctors & nurses are too limited in their ability to focus to extend such all emcompassing attention to their patients; we need time to rest, de-stress, to turn away from our patients & have some down time. Not these care-givers, separating them from their patients stresses them out. They're ready & willing to tend their charges 24/7, with an intensity of focus that is amazing. My hat is off to these noble creatures. jackie harris
