Right now I have a Ford F250 4X4 crew cab. I am thinking about selling it and getting a Ford Expedition.
So if anyone has an Expedition please tell me the PROS and CONS of the vehicle. I have one dog I am working right now, but will be getting a male soon. So I will be putting 2 crates in the back..
THANKS

I have heard the Suburbans SUCK big time... although I do like the look of the Chevy Yukon.
I am interested though about any feed back on the Expeditions.

What have you heard? We have had a couple of smaller blazers and a Tahoe. Was thinking about another one newer one or Suburban.
Have a 2010 Silverado that is great 1500, and an 09 GMC Sierra 2500 hd that is great and had a 98 Sierra 1500, absolutely no issues, just sold it.
Please advise what the problems were with the Suburbans. I just know one person with an Expedition (do they still make them?) he didn't like it, said it was really bad on gas and just awkward handling etc.
Correction, the guy had an Excursion, not Expedition.
Still like to hear any issues on the Surburban or Tahoe. thanks

I have an 08 expedition, and I love it for the dogs and traveling. It's not very good on gas, about 16 mpg, but I put 2 500s side by side in the back and they fit very tightly. That is with the 2nd row seats up. If you flatten them down you can put another 500 there sideways too. Hasn't had any problems at all. It's the best for my purposes.

I have a 2011 ford edge, lots of room for 3 dogs, good on gas, super power and a trans that does not continously down shift on steep grades. It has more power than you wiil ever need. In the warm months I average arounf 34 miles to a Canadian gallon on the highway, and 25 in the city. Do not get near that in the winter.
The Edge is a crossover SUV.

Have an Escape...CAN fit 2 #400 crates in the back (back seat up)...then still room behind front seats for other stuff and maybe another small crate...but #500 crates don't fit too well...
The vehicle is pretty good on gas and is "All Wheel Drive"...ours is a 4 cyclinder and still has good power...We're happy with it...but most of the times when hauling dogs I'll pull my WT Trailer behind my Tacoma 4 X 4...
I used to have Chev Astro Vans...but wanted a truck ... so kept the Astro Van for a bit but got to be too expensive to just keep for the dogs...So ended up purchasing a 4 Box WT Trailer...Although I hate pulling a trailer...it was the best thing I ever did...Great to be able to either have it attached or NOT...

I have a 1998 Ford Exploder and love it, put 2 "SUV" crates in (room 3 crates), its my dog-car... It just keep going..seals around the rear windows don't look so good, but paint is holding up..except for one fuel pump only maintenance type work has been done on it.
1GSD1-
The 2008 Suburban - complete brake overhaul twice, major engine work due to an oil manifold malfunction, not just one but all 4 door-locks are broken (tailgate lock is now starting to act up), dash is cracking, lighter fuse pops every time a cell phone is plugged in for charging..came with such a poor alignment the tires required replacing at 25K miles at ($200 each). Just to name a few....
Our last Suburban (1999) was, except for the brakes and water pump/cooling system issues, a workhorse and took us many hundreds of thousands of miles..eventually the antitheft system malfunctions left us stranded several times.
We purchased the Surburban becasue the ride is softer then the Expidition, and becasue my husband used to be a "Chevy Man". We will most likely never buy another GM product.

I have had 2 Expeditions. If you put heavier duty suspension in the front, you all but eliminate the sketchy handling. If you're halfway careful and have a brain, you can drive just fine with the sketchy handling. It really is only evident in open areas under HEAVY wind when driving on snow or ice if you try to make quick maneuvers. I did just fine in the one that was stock, and really liked the one I bought from my neighbor that had replaced the front suspension w/heavier stuff.
I had no problems with either of them. They had 120k and 140k miles on them when I sold them. I liked them because I could fit a 700 crate and a couple 500's or 400's with the seats down (do NOT get the 3rd row seat!!!). I have a little boy in a carseat still, so I needed to be able to fit multiple crates (airport trips) in back and still be able to put car seat in. I would still have one had I not moved and cut back on my dog numbers.
