My small effort to help defeat the syndrome was a birthday gift to myself to rescue and rehome a dog on death row. Today was his last day. I call him Charlie...

He is a ball crazy/food crazy nut when I can get him to focus..lol! He probably just needs some time to settle in. He is very sweet. I dont think he has ever stayed in the house, so were gonna have to work on that. Im keeping him a kennel and slowly introducing him into the home. He is friendly to the other dogs, maybe a little overly friendly. He jumps on them trying to play and they dont like it. Especially that grouch Cam..lol!
Im gonna work on OB with him and then look for a suitable home. Which isnt going to be easy considering he is very hyper! If I can get him to focus more with distractions (dogs/people/cats) he may be a good candidate for detection. I may be expecting to much focus too soon from him. Does that come with time? I am just used to working with Cam, who never takes his eyes off of me...lol
What do you think..lab mix or flat coated retriever?

Way to go Kelly! He's adorable and sooo fluffy. There are games you can use to work on focus,(which you may already know about), but some dogs just naturally have more of it then others :)

Sounds like a good detector dog candidate to me :) I've rescued a few that were just as you describe him to be and turned out wonderful :) Kudos to you for giving
him a shot!
As for what he looks like... maybe spaniel (looks like Brittany maybe?)/lab X or goldadore (I know, not a breed but Eyes for the Blind have been breeding the 2 together and that's what he looks like) depending on how old he is. By the look of those shiny white teeth I'd say 12 months or so?? Hard to tell from a pic. Either way, he looks like a happy, handsome boy :)

I take that back about not being in the house. Earlier he gave me that impression but I guess he was just excited. He has been laying here beside my bed not making a peep. He sits there staring like he has a million things one his mind. He has a concerned expression. Makes me wonder where he came from and if thats what he is thinking about...
All I know is he was left in the drop off box, and was in the shelter for 10 days :(

He is adorable! I for one love black dogs (and animals in general)!
I'd say flat-coat all the way. He looks just like a Golden except he's black! He looks like such a sweetheart! Glad you saved him!

Probably why he was dumped, his activity level. My first thought was narcotics dog material. Retriever mix, maybe flat coat, handsome!
