German cameraman bags Al Thani Grand Prix 2011
Rajesh Mishra

DOHA German photographer Michael Schonberger has bagged the Al Thani Grand Prix 2011 for his unique photograph titled 'Man Bites Wolf'. The prestigious award comprising PSA GM, $ 30,000 in cash, a Leica M6 camera and an invitation to Doha was given to Schonberger at a formal ceremony at Sheraton Hotel on Wednesday.

Talking to Qatar Tribune Schonberger said, "I took the picture in a fragment of a second. The wolf seen in the picture is wild but living in an enclosure. It has got used to some of us who frequent the place. That day, however, the wolf got angry over something and tried to bite one of us and the person retaliated. Seeing an extraordinary situation unfolding before me, I just took out my camera and clicked in a reflexive reaction." Expressing his gratitude to Qatar he added, "This is my second time at the competition. It feels great to be honoured with one of the greatest awards in photography all over the world. The 2011 Al Thani Award for Photography, which was divided into two categories, 'Emotion' and 'General', is significant in two other ways as it went to the youngest-ever award winner and to the first Qatari winner of an international award.

Nan:

I am sure in a year, reproductions of it will be in the USA.

Watch  Hobby Lobby who has prints for you to buy to frame...or Michaels sometimes gets prints

He will make mega bucks off of it if he has it Protected and sells it to a Studio to promote it..

I couldn't afford it and I am sure it will be on Ebay but you can frame it yourself..
