For those of you who are interested, my 11 year old T continues to improve from the spinal embolism that paralyzed him last April. He can now amble quite fast for about 100 ft (faster than I can!), go up and down a few stairs without assistance, traverse slick tile floors, even jump in the back of the car with a bit of a running start when he has a mind to. (I discourage that) He is enjoying his life, loves to go out on sales calls with me in the car a couple times a week, go for walks in the cemetery down the street, chase cats off the back fence, and play with Xena the chihuahua, his (spayed) doggie love.

My veterinarian and his staff are astounded at the progress he has made, especially in light of his advanced age. Seems there are few limits to the drive and ethics of a well-bred working dog.

I am grateful for every day I have my beloved boy.

I am so glad to hear that your old boy is sprightly after his surgery.  With your determination together with T's good health and fortune, you and your cuddly chums is going to have a wonderful Christmas by a nice warm fire:)

No fire, but I did get his favorite old doggie sofa-bed back from "the former marital residence" a couple weeks ago, had it shipped out from PA. It was little moldy, had to have a good wash, and it needs a new foam insert, but he is going to be dee-lighted to see it again.
:-)
Figures--- all the things I could use here out of my storage unit back East, the only thing I've shipped home was my old dog's bed. LOL
I'm such a sap.

Shelley
So glad T continues to do well. It's all about his attitude determination, married with the love and patience of an owner willing to put their heart and soul into his recovery.  Hope you both have a great Christmas - well deserved. I'm sure he will enjoy his early Christmas present LOL.

Hi Shelley,

How have you been? Good to hear that  your old guy is doing well.

I'm out of PA too, in Fl now enjoying perfect weather. I haven't been on here for a few years. Where are you living now?

Happy Holiday!!

Glad to hear you escaped the frozen, humid northeast Blitzen. I moved back "home" to northern California in January of 2010. :-) Wish I had done it years sooner.

T is thrilled to have his dog bed back. He is rolling around on it  with a tennis ball in his mouth, making the silliest of noises. I am thrilled to see him act like a ridiculous puppy over it.

I think we must insist on photographs of him on his sofa-bed, preferably while he's doing the above. I'm betting there's a huge grin on his face, too.

I'm so happy to hear that T continues to give no quarter to age easily, and has recovered so well from his FCE!

Hi Shelly! Glad to hear that T is doing well! Sorry I couldn't hook up with you while you were out, I think I got out of the hospital just a day or two before you were coming out. Carl & i have been having a difficult time with our health this fall, first he had renal failure after having his left knee replaced & spent almost 3 weeks in the hospital, & then I developed adult respiratory failure & was hospitalized for nearly a week. During all this 3 of our dogs fell ill as well, & we've been visiting vets & basically doing nothing but rehab-ing ourselves & our dogs. Beckett has been doing OK...he is thin but muscular, & as such his hip doesn't bother him at all. Bounds around like a nut-ball, still! But enough about us.....how about those pictures? Best wishes, jackie harris
