No, it's not unreasonable at all. But if she never bothered to register the litter (lazy, forgot, whatever), and just now sent for the papers when the OP started asking, it MAY take a little while. I still think the lack of communication is inexcusable, but I am continually shocked at how poor the general level of communication is in most things and also at people's inconsideration. I would never ignore a buyer. Ever. I don't care what's going on; you can take 5 minutes to reassure someone that you're making good on your word. However, it's apparent that not everyone thinks like this and some would rather avoid the person and just hurry up and get the paperwork done and hopefully, this is what's going on here. Fingers crossed.

I did inquire about your dogs for sale,Molly, but you did not think they were not a good fit for my family at the time.To bad as this issue probably would have been avoided with a different breeder. When I did first started to ask about the paperwork it was way before any personal issues were mentioned on FB AND SHE assured me should take care of this.My name is still used in the sold ad on her website

well i like for Von Hayden to come on here and explain herself, i myself on my last litter , cause i did not have the AKC papers ready cause of the stud being for germany, gave an AKC contract, basicly  saying that i will send the paper work when i get it, this way they had proof, i would be good on my word.

breeders like this just make me mad- what ever happen to the honest breeders?

Jenni i agree 100% with you...

How long has this been an issue?

Perhaps you can contact Paypal to dispute the payment since you did not recieve the "item" you wanted to purchase, ie: a pedigreed/registered dog.

There have been several people that have utilized Paypal in disputes successfully, perhaps thats an avenue you may want to check.

Take screen shots of every published form of media this breeder utilizes, and gather any and all emails, text messages etc for your defense.

keep in touch with akc about it.  They are actually very good at responding promptly to questions and complaints.  They have a department dedicated to investigating and dealing with people and breeders who don't follow through with contractual obligations regarding akc registrations.  contact info@akc.org

Raylind, it is too bad that more breeders are not honest and up front with people inquiring about litters.  Too many tell you what you want to hear and keep in good communication until the cash is in hand, then the communication and "friendliness" is dropped like a hot potato.  It is very sad to  hear about it, I'm sorry that this has happened to you but I hope at least you are happy with the puppy if not the breeder.

I have to admit, the 'personal/family problems, too busy' excuses are weak justification for the delay in the papers for this dog which is now coming 8 months of age--despite all of the personal turmoil, they've found time to whelp two more litters...and it certainly wasn't a surprise that the 2011 N-litter needed to be AKC registered if the pups were going to be sold as AKC registered, so why weren't those documents submitted to the AKC within the first week or so after the litter was whelped, instead of 4+ months later?  I've filled out litter registration applications before--it's not *that* time consuming, especially when the breeder owns both stud and dam.  And since this was a single pup litter, filling out the litter registration would take all of, what, five minutes?

I don't doubt that the litter *will* be registered, if it hasn't been done already, but the paperwork really should have been handed over at the same time the dog was picked up by the buyer.  After all, the kennel's own website publishes "an exclusive code of ethics" they developed themselves, and the fifth point in the code reads:

"All dogs bred or sold by von Hayden are permanently identified via tattoo and/or microchip and they will be registered with proper organizations."

It is good to hear that the OP is well pleased with the dog Neci herself, and has no complaints about her, understanding that pano is one of those things that often occurs in the pups of this breed--it's just a shame the kennel has dented what otherwise would have remained an EXCELLENT relationship with their puppy buyer through a failure to follow up with the required paperwork.   Perhaps now that they need to send in litter registrations for their 2011 "O" and 2011 "P" litters, they'll get Neci's registration taken care of as well....

I hate to ask, is it possible that because your getting Limited AKC that possibly you need to send her a Spay certificate for your girl ? I know many breeders of top AKC Champion dogs that won't give AKC limiteds until that certificate is in there hand. The reason why is because people will take the pedigree information and just Con-KC a puppy with the registration papers and never actualy make the dog a pet.

I hope it all works out for you.
