I purchased a 4 month old puppy Neci von Hayden from Kim Richards back in August. She assured me I would obtain limited AKC paperwork within a few weeks. In fact I paid extra for chipping and for her to handle the owner change. After a month or so i began to contact her by phone, email, text and Facebook to find out what was the reason for the delay. She told me over several conversations that she"forgot, had to go to a wake, and per our last conversation the paperwork was mailed out by AKC.When I contacted the AKC I found out there was no record of this dog or litter in their data base. I did my research ,checked references and still got screwed. To top it all of not only did I pay extra for her to handle the change of ownership if you check her web site my name is used as an advertisement for the sale of this dog.In the ad it clearly states that all her dogs are able to be regestered. She will no longer respond to my inquiries.By charging a fee for this service and not providing I feel that this constitutes fraud. So no matter how well you do your homework you stand a chance of dealing with a dishonest breeder.

What does your contract say? Did you see the paperwork at the time of the sale?
Doesn't help you much now, but in the future, don't buy unless the paperwork is in hand.
There may be cases where a breeding was done in another country so paperwork might take longer, however, the breeder should be able to show you proof of
the progress to date on registration: ie; copies of paperwork etc.

If you have a written sales contract that states you are to recieve AKC paperwork, send her a formal written request via registered mail, giving her __ amount of time to send you the paperwork. If the deadline comes and goes, simply file suit wherever your contract indicates it must be filed and sue her.
Send a written complaint to the AKC as well as Animal Control, you can also CC her on the letter too so she is aware of your actions. Turn the heat up on her, and whatever you do, do not threaten..ACT. No posturing, threatening etc, simply follow through with a well thought plan of action.

Good luck!

Good luck in getting your papers.. I have had calls to my kennel in Oklahoma regarding this kennel..with a few complaints of not getting their papers !! Have you contacted the AKC? They helped get my litter registered when the stud owner refused to sign the papers after receiving the proper stud fee! I showed them the signed contract, proof of payment and they issued me all of the registration applications !! I dont know if that helps you or not!! good luck!

There is no reason that a breeder can't have all pups registered individually at AKC within 4 weeks of when they're born so all that he can just sign the back of the registration certificate over to the new owner. They should all be microchipped by 6 weeks of age. I suppose that if you're going to buy a good dog at a reasonable price (not cheap) from the breeder the breeder should be able to fully turn the dog over to the buyers possession.

All puppies should be microchipped by 6 weeks of age, huh? I had no idea.

I don't know von Hayden, but I would generally steer clear of anyone who publicizes all the people who they have had contractual problems with on their website. Just sayin'.

An agreement not honored and no registration offered on a dog should be reflected in a lower price. How can you even be sure of the sire and dam?
