the problem is having limited papers, have proof of the parents, plus you can do alot of AKC events except showing ( conformation ).  showing in conformation and breeding are the only things you cant do on Limited papers. i hope this breeder honors her aggreement, that makes the rest of us look bad.  i would never do this....

DNA is the only way to be sure of sire and dam, papers or not.

Out of curiosity, what was it that made you choose von Hayden? You're talking about doing a lot of research and choosing that kennel, so I'm curious as to what it was that you looked into and why you chose them, if you feel like answering. I'm truly just curious; I didn't know anything much about them until I looked them up again today after reading this thread.

From the looks of the kennel's Facebook page, it doesn't seem as if they're hiding out...they've been active there as recently as 11/29. Is there more to this story than what's been revealed so far?  Has the dog been paid for in full, and are there any outstanding actions on the buyer's part that must be completed before papers are released, per a written contract between the parties?  Something tells me that there may be more to this than meets the eye....

One of the things that made me choose this kennel was she seemed to be very open and honest when we spoke and I belived the tstimonies of past customers.I drove to meet and Pick up the dog so I did not buysight unseen.I was looking for an older puppy so this seemed to be a good match.Payment was made in full VIA papal before I left my home.If I did wrong why would she give me excuses over several months why paperwork was not forthcoming?

Kim, Von Hayden German Shepherds has posted 1 time in a month( on FB) and the 1 time stated that she has had personal family issues/situation.
Breeders also have family and life situations just like everyone else in the world. I would say if you are happy with everything about your purchase with von Hayden I would be patient and give them the benefit of the doubt.

Do the owners of littermates have their papers?

Maybe she got sidetracked and just forgot. If she just requested them from AKC when you started asking about them, they could take a little while.

And I think refused is harsh, delayed dose not constitute refused.

I thought the OP said the AKC had no record of the litter. Personal problems or not I too would be suspicious if a breeder said papers would be forthcoming on a 4-5 month old puppy and the AKC had no records of the litter/dog. It is not exactly difficult or time consuming to register a litter or dog online with the AKC (or even that expensive). If someone had enough time to meet with the buyer they should have had enough time to register the dog. With the litter I had this fall I sat down with the new owners at my computer when they came to get their puppy and registered the dog right there in their name. Took 5 minutes and 20.00 bucks. I do not know either party besides their postings on this board but Given the infirmation relayed (and acknowledging that this is only based on one side of the story) I do not think the OP is being that unreasonable in expecting papers on a dog he purchased in a timely manner.
