So I was looking at a couple of Husky advertisements and came along a site that had Huskies, and also Giant Malamutes for $2,500!!! No health clearances, no OFA's, they're Giants being way out of the standards, and they're not going to come with papers either for "breeding". I think one "puppy" was over 142 lbs before a year of age. I say that as, if I paid that kind of money for a pup out of parents with none of that, no titles, no health clearances, no nothing, it better be made of gold. I know things like this happen with German Shepherds and other breeds all the time, but I'm a huge Husky/Mal person and it irritates me.....So yes, I'm ranting lol. They have at least 12 female Huskies, I think there was over 10 Malamutes females, and I don't know how many males of each breed they have. How do people get away with big puppy mill type businesses like this, and what kind of crazy people pay $2,500 for a puppy out of untitled, no health clearances, no OFA'd, parents?

I have owned Malamutes since 1969. We didn't breed for "giants" then, but occasionally we did get some oversized dogs. Only two foundation kennels bred for larger dogs, Wakon and Redhorse. I'd be willing to bet that the giant you are talking about have a lot of Wakon behind them. Would this kennel be in TN?
In a country where bigger is normally considered better, I guess buyers are impressed with all the hype about these giant dogs. Stupid is as stupid does.

Yep, it's in TN. Actually it's within a couple hours drive from here.

There will unfortunately always be those fools who breed for the sake of making money and not for the love of the breed. All breeds have such people behind them causing problems for the dogs.
My oldest GSD at the moment, Zane (almost 4 years old) is way oversized at 58Kg and measuring 104cm atw. He was never intended as a show dog although she is from show lines. He is a lovely family pet and that's his main purpose - to be a pet - but he does "work" by visiting children in primary shcools to talk abut dog safety.
He was bought for me as a present and cost £125. I know most pets now are more expensive but not usually over about £350-$300 without the relevant paperwork. So for any dog of any breed to be $2500 is ludicrous.
Unfortunately there will always be a market for something a little different and that's what such people rely upon; either not realising or not caring how much damage they're doing to the breed overall.

I got an even better one for you GSDguy - there is a breeder of ACDs (a breed that does not generally go for the money that GSDs sometime go for) who is advertising a male ACD as a "top show/breeding prospect" who could be asset in certain breeding programs. He is standing at stud at the breeder's house until sold and a proven producer of gorgeous puppies. They want $4550 for him (which is a pretty big chunk of change for an ACD). The kicker? He is mild unilaterally dysplastic.

I understand what you're saying. I've been watching one kennel that breeds Huskies and Shepherds (in Mississippi) and I swear its like they post a new litter on Facebook every day. Looking at their site right now, they have 7 litters on the ground and 5 due yet this month, if this gives you an idea. No health clearances, OFA's, titles, etc. etc. on these guys either. They're even raffling pups off for Christmas, if you can believe that.
But I at least don't think they're selling them for the kind of cash those mal's are going for, that's just insanity.
