So, the weather here is perfect, I plan to continue biking from now, throughout most of our winter.  (We don't get insanely cold here in the winter typically)   All of my dogs eat 3 cups of food each day, other than Little Dude who eats 4 because of his metabolism being so young.  All of my dogs also walk 2 and 1/2 to 4 miles with me almost every morning.  Buck and Max are the only two who will be biking with me for now, but we've been going about 3 miles (they're still walking in the morning like I mentioned earlier) each day starting out (it's mostly slightly sloped and not much flat where we run) and will work our way up to more and more distance.  How much extra should I be feeding Max and Buck? 3 cups of food keeps their weight just perfect, and that's with the long walks with a lot of hills.  As we add more distance to the bike runs, how much more food should I be adding?  Max is on 4Health right now, the performance formula, Buck is as well.  They seem to be doing really well on this food, coats extremely soft, great energy, and they really like it as well.  I can post the ingredients link if needed.  Anyway, any idea?

I would keep feeding the same amount as you are now. If you notice a little weight loss I would add 1/2 cup per day to one of the feedings. Then wait about a week and see if that helps.
This is what I do with my female Xena. She is a hard keeper.

Hope this helps!

I would also suggest that you keep on feeding the same amount, just watch their weight and if nessesary increase by half a cup or you could also divide their food and feed twice a day.

I also have a hard keeper that has to be fed twice a day, same amount just devided into 2 meals.

dogshome I'e been feeding 1 and 1/2 cups in the morning and 1 and 1/2 in the afternoon.  The two that are running have no trouble keeping on weight or anything with the long walks, I just wasn't sure about what to add with the extra running.

We can almost double the food when training hard.  I feed raw so not sure what it would be in cups but the girls went from 1.5 pounds a day to just over 3 when training hard.  It's winter so they are on time off so we are back to 1.5 pounds

brynjulf, winter = time on for my guys lol.  My guys absolutely thrive in the cold and they would have it no other way.  With that said, I think I'm more fortunate than the northerners on this forum because middle, TN really doesn't get too cold in the winter.  We average 40s for our highs in the late winter.  Up until the past two years, we had been having maybe......a quarter of an inch of snow about twice a winter.......every winter.   We just don't get a lot of snow or real cold weather here, at least for very long.

OOOOHHHH The Sheps LOVE the snow.  I however have not the stamina to attempt to ride a bike in 3 feet of snow :)  So winter is off except for obedience and the occasional track :)  we have to many ravens in the winter to lay tracks well.  Those sneaky birds have my bait gone almost as fast as I can lay it.  We already have 6 inches of snow and it doesnt look like it is going any where soon.  Minus 10 the last two weeks.

Don't feed any extra. I never do when I exercise my dog regularly
