PLEASE HELP!!!!....

I have a 4 yearold GSD female who has had 2 litters of puppies...She is a very healthy and strong female who is very easy to breed and to get pregnant....She delivers the puppies very easily with no problems..but all of the puppies are born weak and by the second day they are all dead.

Has anyone out there had a similar problem????....If yes, what did you do to remedy the problem???

Thanks,
Johntic

Sounds like herpes virus or some other type of infection the got from the bitch.

Spay the bitch and never breed her again.

This was very sad to read, also for your GSD without her litter of pups.  I am not a Breeder, but did you ask your Vet following the loss of the first litter of puppies?

Was the second litter a repeat mating?

Again, very sorry this tragedy happened, hope your girl makes a full recovery from losing her puppies, (and twice too is more than awful).

Is this the same dog who had the problem with Perianal Fistula ??
I have to agree with spay her.

NO this was not a repeat breeding....And, as I said, this is a VERY STRONG AND HEALTHY FEMALE!!!

Please only reply if you can give some helpful information.

Thanks,
John

Just because information is not what you want to hear does not make it bad advice.

John, It is understandable that you are distraught from losing the lives of those newly born puppies.   The replies received have surely been considerate of this sad situation.

However, the best "helpful information" would hopefully have been from your Vet.

Kind Regards,

Your female may be strong......but obviously something is wrong with her or something inside of her.......Otherwise you wouldn't be on here asking for advice on what to do because of your 2nd litter of dead puppies.    The remedy to solve the problem is to not breed her again, and spay her.  In my Husky breedings I have only ever had one puppy weak/die, ever.

Me, too. My only breeding bitch has never in 4 litters had a dead pup or had one die, regardless of litter size (except for one stillborn girl in a set of TWINS, which is very unusual, and even more unusual to have them both live.)  There is some sort of virus or other problem going on here. What are they like when they're born? Do they eat right away? Does she have milk? You'll have to give more details if you want to hear more than "spay her."
