Hello
Has anyone done a 5:4 or 4:3 inbreeding on Ernst von Weinbergblick? What were the results.
Thanks
Susan

That would be a linebreeding not an inbreeding. An inbreeding IMO on Ernst would have some serious aggression issues.

agree with dude on the aggression. ernst is the kind of dog you bring into a breeding to fill a specific need, but you don't linebreed on him. his aggression needs to be balanced out with especially good nerves. there is nothing worse than an aggressive dog that has weak nerves to boot. ernst can be used successfully, but with caution.

comet , any 5-5 or 4-3 breeding will give you different results , even if you repeat a 5-4 breeding 3 or 4 times it will give you different results as in a breeding as mentioned there are sooooo many other dogs closer in the pedigree that also will influence the outcome
I think erns would be an interesting dog if he himself would be available right now , but with his great great great grandchildren , it would be hard to find an ernst type of dog to pass on the so called agression he supposed to have
furthermore if you should linebreed close on him , the best you could get is the same agression , doubling up a dog on pedigree doesnot mean you will double up the goods or bads from him , only get a better chance to create a dog that is abe to pass them qualities on

I also would consider hard the hip outcome on a close Ernst linebreeding.

Thanks for the advice....so a 5:4 or 5:5 line breeding (not inbreeding) would be far enough to be "safe" in terms of hips and aggression?

It would be safe depending on the other dogs in the pedigree and how they recombinate with Ersnt. I would probably have some Aly V or other known hip improver closer up in the pedigree than Ersnt ....but thats just me.

comet ,with ernst in the 5th generation it meansthat it is crossed with other blood 4 times , how much chance you think you have of getting anything from ernst at all

Thank you Duke1965. That is what I wanted to confirm. I have been given alot of comments about linebreeding with Ernst but I didnt think i would get much from it anyways. I'm not aiming to get any of Ernst into my breeding, just want to make sure I am not causing a hip problem in my puppies. Thanks

look at the hips of your breedingdogs , their littermates and parents , that would tell you much more than ernst in the 5th generation
