I am new to Schutzhund. Purchased a few pups to train. Joined our local club and starting private training in October. In the meantime I would like to start working with the pups at home and I am looking for recommedations of equipment for beginners. Tugs, etc. What's most important for me to acquire in the beginning?
Thanks!
Thanks!

How old are they? Youngins, I like a nice flirt pole to build drive, targeting, etc. Tugs, balls, and a lot of patience. Start tracking as soon as someone can help you. Every pup/dog is different. You need to find out what motivates the dog. You may have two Pups that are very different and if you try to train them the same, one will definitely come out on top.

I started with a medium sized buggy whip which you can pick up at most farmer feed type stores I cut the whip end of it so it was not soo long and bought one of those toy fox things with no stuffing from petsmart for 10 bucks, cut the squeeker out, cut a hold in the fox's head and looped the whip end through it and tied it to the whip as a cheap and very effective flirt pole.
I also juse used small hand towles wrapped up while she was really young, I like the tugs from elite k9 I have a 12 inch synthetic, jute, and fire hose one that I alternate through. I picked up a medium sized harness from petsmart while she was young and later switched to a real working harness. I picked up a 6 foot lead, 10 foot lead, and 15 foot lead for tracking. Also I had mine on a nylon standard flat collar til she snapped it while in full drive so maybe a nicer leather one would do you better.
I picked up a Herm Sprenger prong and fur saver the prong can have links added and removed which is nice. I also picked up a bag to put it all in which sounds common sense but it didn't all fit in my back pack so I had to get a bigger one.

One is 12 weeks and the other is 15 weeks. Both are males. I will order a flirt pole and some tugs and balls. Thanks!

If you're starting out, why with 2 dogs?

So I'm guessing one's a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever and the other is a Pekingese?

Oh sorry, Coton du Tulear?
