Would love ideas on sound proofing the inside of a kennel.  I would like our boarding kennel to be as quiet as possible.  Currently when the dogs bark it actually hurts your ears.  But with the renos we can do whatever is necessary to make things a bit quieter.  Some of those wee dogs just about break your ear drums.  It must must be very uncomfortable to the other boarders. And no I can not be slapping bark collars on the boarding dogs and i believe having them debarked would cross some sort of line as well :)

I wouldnt suggest putting this material where the dogs can get at it - but ceiling and walls that arent accessible by dogs might work.

Kennels have many hard surfaces, because you have to be able  to keep them clean. Hard surfaces cause the soud to bounce around and reverberate. So, to fix that you need to put some sort of soft, sound-absorbing material on the walls where the dogs can't reach it. Not an easy task, as you stil have to be able to wipe it down now and then to get rid of dust and cobwebs!

I know some kennels use materials similar to stall mats for flooring. (And some actuall DO use stall mats, the same as what is used for horses. However, if you have a boarding kennel, I don't know just how well these can be sanitized between dogs.

Doing some quick thinking here are a couple of ideas to reasearch on. (If I remember right you are somewhere besides USA? Could be wrong). Couple of ideas for you;

Depending on what your "containment area" is? say if you're attempting to sound proof EACH kennel or just the exterior/perimeter of the WHOLE kennel.

There's a drywall that is two layers together as one for soundproofing. You can sandwhich that between your inner sheathing and your exterior sheathing. For your interior sheathing maybe use something like sheet 4X8 or custom? (can't think of the name right now) but it's the sheet material that goes on showers/tailers/the like.

Another option is single/double/triple layer of foam board sandwhich between interior/exterior sheathing.

Another option is after the walls are sandwiched have an HVAC person fabricate the interior with sheets of types of their materials.
