Why would any police dept. or the like, have too, or choose too destroy a service, or police k-9????????? Normally; (and in every other instance that I've ever heard of regarding police canines); when they have to retire any particular dog; (whether it be due to age, agility due to aging, serious illness; such as cancer; or due to serious enough injury to the dog); ANY other police/law enforcement agency, no matter where they are located in state, or country, always give the handler/partner of the dog first option to keep the dog as a family pet/companion!!!!! And they do in most every single case you hear about; after all, no one is more closely bonded too, or truly connected to that dog more, or loves it more then it's handler/partner! If this is not an option available, then they offer the dog to the outside public sources they keep for a retired family home!Are you saying that this UK Police Dept. destroys all of their retired k-9 dogs? That's a hell of a THANK YOU send off to their k-9s after all those dogs do on a daily basis for those police officers, their police dept., and the community!!!!!!! What the hell is the matter with people anyway? Those dogs, and all other service k-9s everywhere, put their lives on the line, give their full devotion, protection, obedience, and more, on a continual basis to these police depts.; so now upon their necessary retirement they deserve nothing less then the easy, loving, relaxed, happy home life that they so richly deserve!! They have given their all to us, now we owe them what they rightfully deserve in the end...NOT DEATH AND TOTAL BETRAYAL!!!!!!!!!!! Can't something be done to stop this kind of practice concerning ALL their k-9s??? This is no better then our U.S. Military has done to our Military Service dogs through the years; when their purpose is done, the wars are over, the dogs were all left there abandoned to starve, to die, or wait to be killed!!! It is disgusting how in both cases these devoted, loyal, courageous animals are thrown to the way side like yesterday's garbage!!! These kind of practices HAVE GOT TO STOP!! GSD Breeder U.S.A.
