This woman has had many breeds including but not limited to: Pit Bulls, border collie, boston terrier, Malinois, Dogue de Bordeaux....Breeders of all breeds, be warned! This post is in regards to a Pam R Young Key who lives in Fallon, NV. She has a website, www.opalkennel.com. She used to raise and show UKC Pits, and had one this past spring, which she no longer has. I got to know her  -- or should I say THOUGHT I knew her -- through facebook and phone calls. Ultimately she convinced me to sell a Belgian Malinois pup to her, but due to her husband transferring to a new trucking company and having to move from NV to TX, money was a bit tight at the moment. So I worked out a payment plan for her as was detailed in my contract. The pup was due to be paid in full by July 1, 2011. Pam claimed to have sent money orders which she never sent. The dog was never paid for and essentially stolen from me. It has now come to my attention, after much investigation, that my puppy contracted Parvo but was not treated. She suffered for 9 days before she finally succumbed to the virus. Pam Key failed to provide medical care to my dog who most likely would have survived had she recieved veterinary attention. She let my dog suffer and die, and when I sent emails, text messages, and facebook messages asking about the dog, she ignored me and removed me from her friends' list. I have since found out about other breeders she has scammed. She gets dogs and doesn't pay for them, then either sells them without papers, or as in my case, allows them to die in her care. A Boston Terrier puppy also died of Parvo at the same time as my pup. This post is to serve as a warning to all breeders: DO NOT SELL A DOG TO THIS WOMAN UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!!!

Many people get either believed to be good or crucified as bad online. The only advice after several experiences I have had actually meeting people from online is to go visit someone take time and get to know them before trusting anyone. I suggest people check "facts" people say about any other person before jumping on the crucify so an so wagons as well. Sometimes what is online just is not what they really are. I have met some honest people online that have turned out to be good people and I have met some that fooled me and still continue to fool others. Heck I met some multiple times in person that still had  me fooled and I consider myself a decent judge of character.

I know nothing about anyone in this persons post or situation. I am just tired of how the internet and people on it make or brake people without judge and jury in front of facts. You should be able to trust someone, but this day and age that seems to be gone. Lawful contracts should be in place when money changes hands or dont cry when you get burned. It only hurts good people that are willing to trust and the good people that should be trusted but it gets tiresome hearing the same stories over and over where business was not conducted as promised. I too have been guilty of all of the above and am now sharing what I learned the last eight years of insanity of online dog world that I came to conclude this year lol.

I went and checked out her site and while I cannot comment on your situation, I noted that some of the web design on her site is from two friends' website which I am checking with them but I am pretty sure she was not given permission to use their work product (and the one site specifically copyrights images, text, etc)

Compare here:

My friend's site:

http://www.trailsend-acds.com/pups5.html

My other friend who designed the above website and her whelping box icon:

http://www.keltoi-acds.com/

I find it ironic that she advertises web design services given this ;-)

How old was your puppy and was he or she UTD on shots when you sold her the pup?

What do you consider 'up to date' on vaccinations? I would not call a first or second DAP vaccine given by a breeder/vet before sending the pups to new homes 'up to date'. I would consider a puppy 'up to date' on vaccines once the third DAP is given.

"most untreated puppies i have seen with parvo did not make it past 4 days. not saying your story is not what it appears, just giving my experiences."

For what purpose did you post this, then, if not to cast doubt on the OP's allegations?

Depending upon the strain of the virus, the pup's maternal antibody status and vaccination history, an affected pup that is not given any veterinary treatment but is provided with access to food, water and shelter certainly--and unfortunately--may linger for as long as 14 days before it succumbs to the effects of the illness.

I am very sorry to hear of your misfortune.  I learned a long, long time ago never to deal in payment plans. I did that the first time in 1986, when we agreed to stand a very fine stakes winning son of SECRETARIAT for a "partnership". Needless to say, we were never paid and very fortunately we were able to take possession of the horse and cause The Jockey Club to transfer him into our name only because of a little known and rarely used NC state law concerning animals abandoned at veterinary facilities. ROMANTICO lived with us and experienced a very sucessful stud career for 20 years. I loved that horse very much, his portrait that I traded for a stud fee hangs in my home in a place of honor, for he was a horse amoung horses. He passed away in 2007, I still get people now and then looking for him or one of his foals.  That is a "payment plan" that ended up ok. As a rule, they don't.

I don't do payment plans, as a rule. I don't do them at our veterinary hospital, I don't do them in horse deals, I don't do them when I sell puppies. RED FLAGS: out of state, especially if the situation is questionable.... money is tight right now, but I just have to have this puppy.........,
I am sorry you got duped.
I don't even take checks anymore..... Cash Only or Postal Money Orders ..... and yes I do know how to tell if it is fake.

Business is business. I am happy when I am able to place the right puppy with the right family. I am happy when the litter turns out to be all I had hoped for. I am happy when I get properly paid for all of the hard work and the investment I have made in my dogs. I am happy when my puppy purchasers let me know how pleased they are with their puppies. I would suppose that must mean I am doing something right.

I am so sorry for your puppy. Take care. Learn from this. Move on. You did no wrong.
