Does my GSD have to be UKC or AKC reg to compete ?

by Nans gsd on 24 August 2011 - 01:08

Depends on where you want to compete.  If you want to attend AKC events I believe you have to register with AKC.  I am not sure with UKC.  If you have german bred dog, German registration AND AKC registration is good.  BOL  Nan

If you want to compete in UKC you have to have a UKC registration. If you go that day and don't you can get what's called a Temporary Listing # but if you win any points and you don't get the dog registered with UKC within 60 days then you lose those points.

Things may of changed since then but for WDA if you don't have an AKC registered dog you can still complete, just that your dog will be marked down as being a mix bred dog. I don't think you can show without having the dog be registered.

I dont think you would have a problem with it, but depending on some organizations (DVG,WDA,USA) your dog will be marked down as being a mix. If you have no problem with it go for it. Not sure how this will effect any future titles, or if you need to repeat them.

your dog needs a scorebook recognized by the group that's holding the trial.......you'll have to call and ask.....
