NASS 2011 will be in the same
place where NASS 2010 was
conducted. Following info is for 2010. Most of it should apply for 2011 but I dont find where I can register.
NASS 2010
The 2010 NASS will be held at Fairfax Lake Park in Reston, VA. Dates for the event are Oct. 14th thru 17th, 2010.
Fairfax Lake Park offers several fields for the WDA to use for the event, including a fully fenced field for the protection work. There is plenty of parking for vehicles, RV's and dog trailers, 2 modern restroom facilities (these will be supplemented by port-a-potties), camping with electric hook-ups, and is a very "dog friendly" area.
The Host Hotel will be announced after the April 2010 WDA Board Meeting. There are 4 major hotels being considered. The Hotels being considered are within a 20 minute drive of Fairfax Lake Park. The Hotels being considered are all within 10 - 20 minutes from Washington Dulles Airport, 30 minutes from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, and 1 hour from Baltimore-Washington International Airport. These hotels all have plenty of dog walking areas, large open bar/lounge areas, over 200 rooms, room rates between $79 and $89 per night, full service restaurants and outside garden terraces.
Cindy Petersen is the 2010 NASS Coordinator, until the April WDA Board Meeting when the NASS Chairperson will be appointed. If you would like to volunteer to help put on NASS 2010, please e-mail Ms. Petersen at CindyNTill@msn.com.

No, the website for NASS is not up. For those of us planning to go, this is an outrage. Frankly, I am beginning to believe that the power mongers in the WDA would like to see Cindy fall on her face.
I had considered not going to NASS as such a trip is fairly pricey for someone retired and on a limited, fixed income--just to show a 10-year-old Veteran Male. However, after hearing of political infighting amongst board members, failure to follow parliamentary procedure and lack of transparency, I may still enter my dog and make the trip in order to attend the annual meeting of the WDA.
Please be sure to vote in the upcoming WDA election of officers and board members. There is a petiition for the nomination of Gayle Kirkwood for the office of president. I surely intend to vote for Gayle--if her name is on the ballot.
