Why is it that some breeders feel it is okay to ignore phone calls & e-mails when an owner of one of their puppies has a health problem? I have an 11 month old female who on July 21st was confirmed with EPI & SIBO. I called the breeder that afternoon and told her what was going on.   She has NOT returned any phone calls and I have sent e-mails with no response. She can't blame it on being to busy as she had time yesterday to post on the PDB trying to sell puppies! I don't know how you breeders can keep selling new puppies when you won't even take responsibility for the previous ones you have already bred. Jennifer, can you answer this???

Many breeders in general don't want to hear about any potential problems that may come as a result of possibly refunding the money back to the buyer if a genetic issue is to blame for the health problem that the puppy come down on. That is why it's a good idea to get a puppy lemon law into an effect that way the buyer is legally protected against bad breeders. At least with the puppy lemon law you can actually take the breeder to court and sue them.

Also did you get this dog for breeding purposes? If so then you should get part of your money back (read your contract) because dogs with EPI should not be bred.

I know of breeders producing multiple problems in their puppies, yet continue to produce out of the same bitches.  Unbelieveable....they way it can be blamed on multiple stud dogs.

This is a different dog then the 7mo. old who was being given up then? Is this her replacement?

Or is this the other dog, you had at the same time?  As this time it is a female breeder named Jennifer.
Either way, you are not having very good fortune.  I tend to agree with Brittany's explanation.
Gotta love this board though, it sure gets breeders out of ignore mode and spurred into action. :)

Red Sable - I would be the seemingly guilty breeder here.   Jen - Yes this is the same dog she had that the 7 month old was not getting along with.   Though I was not actually intentionally ignoring this client, I can say in all honesty, that I can see where it easily looked like it from that side of the fence. Truthfully, I was waiting on a response from several people with puppies from related litters for the feed back she wanted and also I am just a bit overwhelmed with unrelated personal and family drama right now. I fear for my grand daughter's safety and her welfare and that ordeal has consumed much of my waking hours for a few weeks now. Last night she was forcefully removed from my home because grandparents have no rights even though she is not safe in her home environment. I found this thread only minutes after they(and the 2 officers) left with her, while I was still bawling my eye out.   I have made contact with the client, made an offer and now I hope this thread can be laid to rest.

Jennifer, I am so sorry to hear about your personal problems.  Being a new Grandmom myself, I can certainly relate to the horrors you must be going through.  Hugs, and prayers that everything works out.

I'm sure Nancy will understand the delay.

Jennifer has been in contact with me so now hopefully we can reach an agreement that will be fair to both of us. Oona, the female I'm talking about is a sweet loving playful beautiful puppy that I hope will do okay on the enzymes she must take for the rest of her life. Please wish her well.   Nancy

Ditto  Hugs, and prayers that everything works out. Also Jennifer I raise my hat for you.  Maybe it should be I raise my hat to you, RS can correct me on which one is the correct phrase.

Ibrahim
