Trying to start service dog kennel to assist Vets with Psychiatric and mobility dogs.My local town planning board has nothing better to do than violate my right to privacy by entering my property with out my permission.This board member was greeted by my German Shepherds who essentially are working to guard my home when I am not around  and sounded off and made that person leave.During the meeting this person stated your dogs are mean and my response was they did their job and would have done worse if you tried to actually enter my house. I am a Marine Corps Veteran who served this country to defend our rights as Americans and to have my privacy violated by a ignorant self serving individual who some how thinks that entitlement  is a personal right makes me sick.I have attempted to get my local and state political leaders involved however they ignore my requests.People are leaving up state N.Y. in droves and will continue to do so until we get people in office who truly give a dam.

Just keep up the good work, I understand the need for PTSD/mobility dogs is great and growing steadily as our veterans come home.  I have a friend that does this type training in No Calif.  I admire you for your dedication and the german shepherd will make such a wonderful working companion for these people.  My friend also uses believe it or not, Standard Poodles, Golden Retrievers and some GOOD Laborador Retrievers.  Depends on the person and the need.  Best of luck to you but I do understand your concern for entering your premises unannounced, what an idiot.  My boy would have taken them down as he was 120 lbs and a no nonsence dog;  knew his job and did it well and would not have tolerated someone with an attitude coming into his domain;  your dogs were very kind to them.  Best of luck to you,  Nan

You also could have said;

They only respond that way with trespassers, as any criminal would soon realize, so you got what you deserved. Maybe next time you will call beforehand to request a visit, as a well-mannered person would have done.

...next stop... the MEDIA, they might be interested......

I have said this before and I will say it again.

Hire a land use lawyer now.

If you can't afford it, you don't have a viable business plan yet.  I am all for taking the fight to the board and giving them hell, but be sure to be READY.  If you lose, you are just setting up the next person up to refight your lost battle.  Maybe you can split the legal expenses with another local kennel?

You should have NEVER let that guy visit your house without legal representation and a predefined plan of action.  Treat planning board members like you would treat the IRS, animal control or local law enforcement trying to enter your home uninvited.  Being sure to put your rights first and thier motives second.  Here is an old thread for your reference.

Momosgarage:  Good advice!

Great advice from Garage! First off, Thank You for your service to our country! It must be very frustrating to you to have to deal with this kind of crap. People are leaving the great state of Illinois,
aka (obamaland) for the same type of reasons. Where do we all go. I say the hill's of KY. My neighbor standing in front of my kennel today asked my wife if she could keep the GSD's quiet when he's in sight. She told him a firm NO. They do what they are trained to do. I have sign's posted a few place's around property and people assume I'm kidding. I love the look on there face's when they find out otherwise. I then ask if they need to use the bathroom, then tell them there's one at Casey's a few miles down the road. LOL      Find out your local laws and codes, you probably already have. Get an attorney and have at it. Good Luck. and Thank You again for your service to our country.   Take Care    Pete           PS  Let's all make sure to VOTE to turn this ship around!

Suggest you  contact your local American Legion and VFW Post for advice. Possible legal assistance. Another suggestion:  Look up Wounded Warrior organization.  Remember you are dealing with civilian nose-pickers, not Marines.
Ooorah!
