I have been receiving and reading a lot of complaints about members TOPIC FLOODING the OT forum with their agenda and I am working on new OT rules to deal with this. Due to the amount of complaints both sent to me in pm's and posted in the OT forum. We have been discussing the spamming of the OT forum for about a week now and while I have been hesitant to add any more rules, I think the time has come. We feel that when a member has 1/4 of all the posts on the front page that is spamming the forum and since all of these are about the same main topic it can be considered topic flooding and in this rewrite of the OT rules, we will cover TOPIC FLOODING. I also believe a baiting rule might not be a bad idea, but we want to keep the OT forum as rule-less as possible, but unfortunately things change and we must add new rules as those things change.
Sorry but I have been left no choice but to make rule changes. I would like to know if the members would like us to use the TOS as the OT forum rules?
The new rule will look something like.
I would like to open this up for suggestions. If this thread turns into a he said she said ordeal or a moderator bashing thread it will be closed and we will just institute the new rule changes without further debate or taking of suggestions.

The new rule will look something like.
- NO TOPIC FLOODING, defined as 5 threads within similiar topics on the front page. This is per person and per topic.
I would like to open this up for suggestions. If this thread turns into a he said she said ordeal or a moderator bashing thread it will be closed and we will just institute the new rule changes without further debate or taking of suggestions.
OT forum rules
- No racism or xenophobic comments
- No porn or near adult content
- No sexually explict posts
- No moderation threads/posts or bashing of moderators
- No cyberstalking
- No threats of violence
- No multiple user names---anyone posting with such in the OT forum is subject to all user names being banned immediately.
- No emails, pm's or personal information can be posted.
- No spam/advertising
- No illegal activities
- No Dog talk

Unfortunately, I think it is becoming necessary because some people show no personal restraint for whatever reason. It becomes obvious there is an agenda when it gets flooded like this, and that is when I think it becomes a problem. Not that the views expressed are the biggest problem, those we can ignore but the onslaught of the same old spam gets to be obnoxious and does overtake the forum and ultimately the variety and that discourages new topics and timid posters from joining in discussions.

Try being friendly and ask them reduce their post a little bit.
And thank them for their time, for putting up some really good post.
I miss the post Prager used to put up, but he got cluster fucked
by the tos I think?

I say leave it alone. Status quo.
Time heals all wounds.
In the end, the lasts shall be first, and the first shall be last.
It's not a perfect world. I don't have any problem not opening up a thread that doesn't appeal to me. But I would defend that person's RIGHT to post it. It is what it is - THE OFF TOPIC SECTION -
Amen

I agree with Ninja. I'm just wondering if those complaining are those that disagree with this topic/poster? If that is the case, it isn't fair to stifle someone just because someone disagrees.
- BE, you posted the same time as me. :)

I agree with max, At first it was religion, then politics, now conspiracies. after a while you see who the original poster is and if you don't want to participate in it don't go there. This is all about Prestons posts. I disagree with some of his stuff, but some I do agree with, but censoring or limiting his posts is not the answer. One thing About Preston, He has the most polite responses to all the criticism I've ever seen.

I'd like to add that by having the OFF TOPIC SECTION the way it is, the rest of the board is sanitized. And I firmly believe that was the intention of moderators (who are doing a great job) and the complete re-structuring of this site which was brilliant IMO.

The problem is when a member takes over a forum with an agenda. 14 threads and 5 hi-jacked threads is a little overboard. All to bring out the bullies. It is uncalled for and unnecessary. There are 40 topics on the front page and almost 20 of them are for one agenda.
These threads do not show up on search engines, so what is the point of 14 threads and 5 hi-jacks? The member has already admitted it is a personal agenda with certain people on this forum and you guys say this is okay?
You will still have the freedom to post what you want, but just less threads of it. Now we have the calls of restricting freedoms. I feel a 3 pain pill headache coming on.
