My bitch just delivered 3 huge healthy sable puppies on the 9th of this july, and i felt like deworming given the some times rainy/muddy environment she plays in. I dewormed her before mating but never thought it wise to try anything funny during after the mating, just to be sure, becaurse i mated her at her 18th months of age but she didn't get pregnant. Now, i want to know if i can deworm her 5 days after she whelped? (of course with a mild dewormer). "A doctor cannot really diagnos or make prescription for himself". Help!

wait till the pups are 4-6 wks old.....when you do their 1st worming, then do the dam, too.

I do deworming when the pups are 2-3 weeks old,I deworm also the dam at the same time.

i deworm the puppies at 2,4,6.8 weeks..

the mom gets dewormed at the same time as the pups 2 week dewormed.

this has worked well for me..

Worm the pups at 2 weeks and every 2 weeks there after....Everytime you worm the Pups...you worm the Female too...
I guess the question is what are you going to use to worm them with...

Thanks Guys, It's now sunken into my head once again. I can't remember or comprehend anything, may be because my bitch did everything excellently well without any input from me, even though she's a "first timer". Thanks guys.

Everyone seems to have a slightly different regime, but I agree do it at the same time as the pups, I do pups and Mum at 3 weeks and again at 6 weeks.

What about the sire?  Shouldn't he also be dewormed as well if he is around mother and pups?
