My 4,5 month old puppy ear doesnt want to stand up.I tapeted it for two weeks now, but it doesnt changed a bit maybe somebody knows something more effective to help a earto go up.
Dont panick there is plenty of time for that ear to go up, some ears go up from as early as 8 weeks old. Yet some dont come up until 6-7 months. You shouldnt really tape the ears yet you dont want to damage the cartilage, so just leave the ear as it is. If its not up by 6 months start panicking, but otherwise just carry on as normal. Just check through your dogs bloodlines for any traces of soft ear.. good luck !!!
I don't know what you feed your puppy but give him a piece of "RAW" chicken with his food a couple of times a week...the chewing and the chicken it self will help...ears on GSD's go up and down for awhile...depends on the bloodlines and the environment...but I agree with Lewis...don't panic and no need to tape the ears...

She is from Urban vom Gleisenauer Schloss, I feed her Half "Honest Kitchen"raw freez diet, Force kind, and half Super premium Kirkland Lamb and rice, also she gets cottage chees, yogurt, and calcium supplement every day, not counting araw beef,/frozen/
Each puppy will progress on their own. If you paid a LOT of money for this puppy, ask the breeder for either a refund or see if they'll give a replacement puppy. Or, if contacting the breeder, ask them how long it took for the Sire and Dam's ears to go up. Any GOOD breeder will stand behind their puppies.
what is alot of money?
how many teeth are in/out?
you really should be contacting your breeder as you trusted them enough to buy a puppy from them... if they dont know what is going on, they cant help :)
whats the puppy like 20 weeks old? it certainly cannot hurt to have your breeder put some forms in with some skin bond its better to be on top of it then to let it go and then have a problem down the road... it can take up to 2 months of ear forms/taping... once they are in the puppies barely notice as long as another puppy isnt ripping it out lol
The pups ears will most likely go up in the next couple of months. Give it beef knuckle bones to chew on. The hard and constant chewing will strengthen the facial muscles and help with the ear muscles. Worked for me. At 6 months her ears all of a sudden went up good and hard. Before that I was worried. Try the beef knuckle bones until six months old. Then talk to the breeder again. I'm assuming you have already asked the breeder about this.
Hi!
I had an Urban daughter and she was nearly 8 months until her ears stood up. Don't worry and give her time, and most important, don't tape them yourself. Get someone who knows what they are doing to do it, otherwise her ears may become unsymetric.
Good luck.
I have an Urban Son who is 8.5 months old and 1 ear is still not up yet, it will stay up for sometimes hours then will go back down again, not panicking too much yet, i also have an Urban daughter who's ears have been up for months now. Best of luck with your puppy and keep us informed on her progress please.
Here you all go again trying to cover up faults, taping ears up then in time breeding from these dogs and perpetuating the fault onto others in the future. No wonder the breed has so many problems.
This puppy is still young and still teething at 5 months,, give it time give it bones to chew and hope the ears go up naturally. If they dont, do not tape and do not breed from it, find it a good loving pet home, learn from your experience and move on. Maggie
