Anyone else notice the increase in coaties in the classifieds? - Page 1

Wow since the show in Texas it seems like every coated shepherd on the planet is now for sale.  Just can't believe how many there are!

     I believe that since the coated Shepherds are now accepted within the SV that you notice an increase. They were always out there, some breeders just didn't advertise and admit to having  them until they became "acceptable",within in the german Standards.
    I also notice an increase in the number of show/working crosses that have been becoming more popular recently. and not just with small breeders.
    I've seen some well known working line studs being used with the show females. that is something I have advocated doing(and have been doing),for the past several years.
    It will be very interesting to see how these dogs do in competions in the future. I'm actually hoping to see myself,(at least my dogs) out there!

The SV has being too rigid on the part of the longcoaties, and this religated them to the background, but with the change of heart from the SV, longcoaties are now "the flood of Noah", bursting out here and there: how could these beauties be sidelined for the sake of their natural coat. SV bend the more, so there'll not be anything like "show" or "workingline" but simply "show-worklines". Let the GsD be one indivisible breed.

Yes, some of the long stock coats are really impressive in every way.

Hasn't really been an increase, they just aren't describing them as 'plush' coats anymore.

Still think disqualifying the langstockhär in the first place was one of the all-time stupidest decisions ever made by the SV, and their method for 'reinstating' it is pretty ridiculous as well (and, I believe, chosen solely to avoid the embarassment that simply reversing the original disqualification would have carried).

Edited to add: And I realize that the SV doesn't give a rat's ass about my opinion. :)

this young male....Ratsumestarin Gonrad...came in 8thy at the WUSV/2009 and 5th place WUSV/2010.....nice long coat male!  He also just won the 2011 Masters Tournament!

I see that Gonrad is out of a Bacteroides bitch line that use a mix of working & show. I know longcoats aren't uncommon in show lines but I don't know how common they are in pure working lines, anyone any idea?

I can't say I've seen any on threads here or in my DB searches which is surprising because I would have thought the coat type wouldn't matter to many if the dog could work. Or would they have still not been preferred because of the SUV restriction and thus subsequent lack of conformation/breed survey grading and therefore breeding possibilities?
