Basically, if you could build your perfect dog, what would he/she be like? What do you look for when buying a dog? What is your color preference? Color does not make a dog, but you cannot tell me you don't have a favorite. ;)
And what would you do with your 'perfect dog'?

I want a dog that:
has crazy drive yet can also be a couch potato
is 100% protective for real yet will let toddlers at PetCo run up and give him/her a hug
who i can take anywhere and not worry yet if the sh#t hits the fan has my back side
that is completely socialized and has no issues yet is always on the lookout
is happy do do AKC agility or Rally yet can and does make me look good titling in SchH
is a showline beauty yet isn't so extreme that it causes issues.

If I need a dog to protect me, I don't care if strange kids can't mount him.

My favourite dog would be jet black male, with a plush coat, excellent conformation ( and I don't mean showring conformation ;) ) dominate, confidant, courageous, unbothered by surrounding sites and sounds, cool until threatened, yet always watchful.
90lbs, 26" at the shoulder well built. Beautiful to look at. Trustworthy with children and little old ladies, totally faithful to me, but like Chaz said, he does not have to take being mounted by strangers...
(yes, I am still talking about a dog here)

hmmm...interesting topic...as I'm *JUST* researching this myself. I'm looking for the following (eventhough I'm currently a GR owner, and know absolutely nothing about dogs....LOL...)...here goes:
Breed: GSD
Yeahh...I know...this is my dream list...but I can't feasibly add to my pack until my alpha male (13 y/o GR) crosses the rainbow bridge. I can't introduce a pup into that mix, until the 'ol man passes
Breed: GSD
- Red/black...love the pigmentation...and won't settle for anything less...yeahh....I like what I like
- high drive
- but not too much drive, that they can not do SAR work
- pet/working dog
- lives indoors with other working (calm) K9's
- accepts that children will be part of life's program
- high-trainability
- great nose work

Ruger1 - Hanny Hartis Bohemia is her name.
She is retired now and will be going to her forever home very soon - most difficult decision I've had to make in a long time.....
Keep Hanny and force her to put up with all the other dogs and puppies in my home or find someone with whom she can live out the rest of her life where she will be the only one - the center of their attention, the apple of their eye............ I interviewed 16 perspective homes and found one that that is good enough to deserve her. She has made me a better person!
